CONFIRMATION
By Mrs B Lurie
Though last in all Creations plan
The first for punishment came Man
I
To thee this day O worthy Sire
And to thy gentle spouse
Has God vouchsafed the privlege
high
Of dedicating a budding mind
To the worlds most glorious religion
Thy child arrived at his formtive age
Looks but to thee for high example
And Gods hope in truth be realized
Looks not in vain
Religions yoke on thee must neer
rest lightly
Nor yet heavily
For thou through study will love the
restrictions it imposes
And that thy child adhere to these re-
straints
Not less diligently
Must be thy fervent prayer
And there to thee O slender child
Standing on the threshhold
That divides thy childish deeds
From a soullifes great responsibility
I say
Shunthe broad path and choose thy
way
With those who labor through the Vale
of Truth
And so cast thy lot on earth
Be it great or small
That thy deeds And Grace and Favor
in thy Makers sight
Strive to show unto all men
That not in vain but truly so
Hast thou been ordained A Son of
Command
And that Time shall write in letters
Large
Avirtuous child of virtuous parents
sprung
iMust be thy constant aim
PULPIT AND PEW

Those who are inclined Ao criticise
the pulpit because it keeps on good
terms with the decalogue should read
in connection with this chapter of
Samuel the nineteenth chapter of Le-
viticus which is the section of the
Jaw read on this Sabbath Indeed
there are those who rate in ethical
content and value this nineteenth
chapter of Leviticus above the Deca-
logue For say they The decalogue
is the possession not only of Israel
but of all humanity while these
