reported 2,739 calls went
through dispatch from
Feb. 11-17.
The sheriffs depart-
ment responded to 56
calls; the Refugio Police
Department, 25; Medics,
23; Woodsboro marshal,
four; Animal Control,
nine; Refugio VFD, and
Bayside VFD, one each.
Crash
A male and female
were taken to Refugio
County Jail on Feb. 17, at
9:37 p.m. for possession
of marijuana. According
to the report, a car ran
the stop sign and was hit
by an 18-wheeler loaded
with over 100 barrels of
Crude oil under the over
pass on U.S. Hwy 77 and
239.
The smell of marijuana
was emitting from the
vehicle. The marijuana
was located. The female
was taken to Refugio
Memorial Hospital to be
checked again.
Possession of con-
trolled substance
A male was taken to
Refugio County Jail for
possession of a controlled
substance on Feb. 17, at
12 p.m. following a traffic
stop initiated by Trooper
Mike Perkins on U.S.
Hwy 77.
In a separate incident
on Feb. 15, at 11:22 a.m.
Trooper Tim Gage initiat-
ed a traffic stop on Hwy.
77, a male suspect was
taken to Refugio County
Jail for possession of a
controlled substance.
Sgt. Gary Wright was
dispatched to James
Street in Refugio on Feb.
11, at 11:40 a.m. in ref-
erence to an active war-
rant. According to the
report, the suspect would
be charged for possession
of a controlled substance.
The suspect was taken to
Refugio County Jail.

A 911 caller reported
guys yelling at each other

Flores
WOODSBORO —
Victoria M. Flores, 71, died
Monday, Feb. 18, 2013.
Mrs. Flores was bom in
Edna on March 7, 1941,
to Augustine and Maria
Martinez.
She was preceded in
death by her husband,
Cayetano Flores; and a
son, Andy Flores Sr.
Survivors include
three daughters, Olivia
F. (Manuel) Rios of
Woodsboro, Esther Flores
of Ganado and Mary
Rose (Carlos) Almeda of
Ganado; two sons, Frank
(Leila) Flores Sr. and
Raul (Dalmeta) Flores
Sr., both of Woodsboro;
two sisters, Pilar Muro of
Woodsboro and Herminia
Longoria of Lake Jackson;
four brothers, Augustine
Martinez Jr. of Florida,
Walter Martinez and
Julian Martinez Sr., both
of Woodsboro, and Victor
Martinez of Mathis; 18
grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited
Wednesday, Feb. 20, at
Moore Funeral Home
Chapel at 7 p.m.
The funeral service
was conducted today
(Thursday) at St. Therese
Catholic Church in
Woodsboro. Burial fol-
lowed in St. Bernard
Cemetery - Woodsboro.
Pallbearers were Frank
Flores Jr., Victor Flores,
Jose Avalos, Andy Flores
Jr.,Carlos Deases Jr. and
David Muro.
Ochoa
REFUGIO — Alejandro
Ochoa, 70, died Sunday,
Feb. 17, 2013.
Mr. Ochoa was born Feb.
9, 1943, in Dewitt County
to Agapito and Christina
Ochoa.
He was preceded in
death by his parents; a
sister, Beatrice Ochoa; and
a brother, Daniel Ochoa.
Survivors include his
wife, Eva Garcia Ochoa of
Refugio; daughter, Debra
(Gary) Goss of Paris; son,
Alex Dean (Addie) Ochoa
of Refugio; two sisters,
Enedina (Jorge) Jaso and
Elva (J.J. Andrade) Moya,
all of Refugio; brother,
Fidencio (Sylvia) Ochoa
of Round Rock; and nine
grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited
today (Thursday) at Moore
Funeral Home Chapel at
7 p.m.
The funeral Mass will
be celebrated Friday, Feb.
22, at St. Therese Catholic
Church at 10 a.m. Burial

Feb. 15, at 3:29 p.m. fol-
lowing a report of about
20 teenagers fighting on
Thomas Street in Refugio.
According to the report, a
guy was seen hitting a car
with a bat.

Several subjects were
reported fighting at the
Osage Apartments on
Feb. 17, at 4:33 a.m. Sgt.

Drug sting nabs suspect
REFUGIO — The cul-
mination of the Refugio
Police Department and
the Texas Department of
Public Safety Criminal
Investigative Division-
Corpus Christi Drug
Sting Operation led to the
latest arrest of Terrence
Dubose.
Dubose was nabbed
by Refugio Police
Department Police officers
and Texas Department of
public Safety Agents and
Troopers as he was about
to leave his residence in
Refugio.
Dubose was arrest-
ed for an outstand-
ing warrant and found
to be in Possession of a
Controlled Substance.
Dubose was incarcerated
Dubose
at the Refugio County
Jail and charged with
Manufacturing/Delivery
of a controlled substance
with intent to deliver.
Chief of Police Andy
Lopez Jr. stated that
the Refugio Police
Department will continue
it’s efforts in discouraging
the illegal distribution of
drugs in our community.
