Dippel
REFUGIO - Juanita
Mae Dippel, 88, died
Thursday, June 20, 2013.
She was born Aug. 5,1924,
in Bayside, to Maxie and
Carrie Collins Galbreath.
She was a charter mem-
ber of the Refugio Hospital
Volunteers and attended
Refugio Tabernacle for
over 50 years.
She was preceded in
death by her parents;
husband, Murray Dippel;
son, Jay Dee Dippel; and
grandson, Jeffery Lee
Dippel.
Survivors include a
daughter, Elian J.
Shreckengost of Refugio;
a son, Murray Dippel Jr.
of Victoria; eight grand-
children; and nine great-
grandchildren.
Visitation was held from
6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 23,
at Moore Funeral Home
Chapel. The funeral ser-
vice was conducted there at
10 a.m. Monday, June 24.
Burial followed at LaRosa
Cemetery in Woodsboro.
Pallbearers were
Kenneth, Kevin and David
Shreckengost, Brian,
David and Trey Dippel.
Linney
REFUGIO - Lillian
Faye Linney, 89, died
Sunday, June 23, 2013, in
Refugio.
Mrs. Linney was bom
on a Friday, Jan. 18,
1924, in Waco to Floyd
and Esther Patty. She was
Refugio City Secretary for
42 years, worked for the
Refugio Police Department
for eight years and was the
president of the Oakwood
Cemetery Association for
many years. She also was
a active member of The
Trinity Lutheran Church
of Refugio, Treasurer of
the Good Samaritan
Center and was instru-
mental in establishing the
Williamson Senior Center,
where she also held many
offices within the organi-
zation.
She was preceded in
death by her husband of
56 years, Floyd Linney.
Survivors include
two daughters, Marilyn
(Melvin) Emmons of
Rosenberg and Janis
(Quatie) Wolfshohl of
Giddings; two sons, Bobby
(Dawn) Linney of Sarco and
David Linney of Refugio;
grandchildren, Jason
Emmons, Jamie Linney,
Kevin Wolfshohl, Farrah
Drury, Keith Wolfshohl,
Kyle Wolfshohl; and six
great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from
6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 25,
at Moore Funeral Home
Chapel.
The funeral service
was conducted at 10 a.m.
Wednesday, June 26, at
Moore Funeral Home
Chapel. Burial followed
at Oakwood Cemetery in
Refugio.
In lieu of flowers, dona-
tions may be made to the
Good Samaritan or to
Trinity Lutheran Church
of Refugio.
Pallbearers were her
grandsons, J ason Emmons,
Rich Dmry, Jamie Linney,
Kevin Wolfshohl, Keith
Wolfshohl and Kyle
Wolfshohl.
Honorary pallbearers
were her granddaughters,
Farrah Drury and Lisa
Wolfshohl.

REFUGIO - Maria
Cliofas Silvas, 76, died
Friday, June 21, 2013. She
was bom April 9, 1937, in
Refugio to Crecensio and
Angelita Castellano.
Survivors include her
husband, Ramon Silvas
of Refugio; four daugh-
ters, Minerva Canales,
Beatrice Perez, Angie
Zuniga and Elvira Borjas,
all of Refugio; three
sons, Raymond J. Silvas
and Peter Silvas, both
of Refugio and Michael
Silvas of Woodsboro; a
brother, Oscar Castellano
of San Antonio; 22 grand-
children; and 28 great-
grandchildren.
The rosary was recited
at 7 p.m. Monday, June
24, at Moore Funeral
Home Chapel. The funeral
Mass was celebrated at 10
a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at
St. James Catholic Church
in Refugio. Burial was in
Holy Cross Cemetery.
Wolfshohl
INGELSIDE - James
Leslie Wolfshohl, 63, died
Thursday, June 13, 2013.
He was born July 26,
1949, in Refugio to Sonny
and Lavada Wolfshohl
and grew up in nearby
Woodsboro.

McKenzie honored at retirement ceremony
On Saturday, June 22, members of
the Refugio County VFW Post 6290
attended Retirement Ceremonies
for Lieutenant Commander John
McKenzie, better known as Father
John from St. James Catholic Church.
Lieutenant Commander McKenzie
Retirement Ceremonies took place at
the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station
Reserve Center.
Lieutenant Commander McKenzie
served in the US Navy for over 20
years as the Navy Chaplin. Father
John served all over the world with
the US Navy, as well as in the Middle
East in Afghanistan. Also attending the
Retirement Ceremonies was his family
from Kingsville and a congregation of
people from St. James Catholic Church.

INGELSIDE - Jerry
Lynn Wolfshohl, 63, died
Friday, June
14, 2013.
She was
born Sept.
22, 1949,
in Colorado
County, to
John and Wolfshohl
Frankie
Mouser.
Most of her former years
were spent in Woodsboro.
Primarily a homemak-
er during her adult life,
She also applied to sev-
eral bookkeeping positions
with various local busi-
nesses over the years.
She was preceded in
death by her parents and
her youngest son, Jeffrey
Clay Wolfshohl.
Survivors include her
son, John Tyson Wofshohl
of Corpus Christi; brother,
Daryl Mouser of Aransas
Pass; and numerous niec-
es and nephews.
The funeral service
was conducted at 10 a.m.

30. The religious-themed

Gregg
Michael Thomas
“Mike” Gregg of
New Braunfels died
peacefully in Austin
June 19, 2013. He was
born September 21,
1942 in Cotulla, Texas
to Maude and Thomas
Gregg. Upon graduating
Refugio High School
he worked on South
Texas ranches and soon
became a Texas peace
officer serving Refugio,
Goliad and Aransas
counties. He was elected
Constable in Rockport,
Aransas County where
he served until his
retirement December
2012 and moved to
Comal County to be
closer to family. He had
a fulfilling 42 year law
enforcement career in
which he was proud to
respectfully serve and
protect his fellow man.
He is survived
by his wife Mimi
Whittington Gregg;
his sister Patricia
Whitenton; his mother
Maude Kelley Gregg and
numerous nieces and
nephews.
He was a longtime
member of the Coastal
Bend Peace Officers
Association and
dedicated most of his life
to public service. Mike
never met a stranger
and welcomed the
opportunity to meet new
people. His easy going
demeanor, quick wit
and humor made him
an instant friend. He
was truly one of a kind!
Once you met Mike, you
remembered him with a
smile on your face.
Visitation was held
in Refugio at Moore
Funeral Home on
Tuesday June 25th from
5:00pm to 7:00pm.
Services were
held in Goliad at St.
Stephen’s Episcopal
Church on Wednesday
June 26th at 10:30am
with a private burial
to follow at the family
ranch in Goliad County.
Memorials may be
made to St. Stephen’s
Episcopal Church Goliad
or the charity of your
choice.
