day norning. Our church
services were so good
yesterday. The message
was so challenging.per-
taining to being a bet-
ter witness for Christ
and not just a specta-
tor, but a worker. Was
good to have Fred Mc-
Alexander and family
with us.|Ue is the hus-
band Of ^ Ann Burgay.
Bro. and Mrs. Mathews
and Spence had lunch
with Robert Joe Scotts.
They also had all their
Children and Mr. Joe
and Mrs. Fannie Scott.
Brooksie Bearden talked
to her brother, Charles
Coo, recently. He and
his wife and two child-
ren have been trans-
ferred to Memphis,Tenn.
where he works with the
Conmercial Appeal In-
vestigative Reporting.
They moved from Urbine,
Calif., where he was
doing the same type
work. Charles is a 1963
graduate of Timpson
High School. Good to
hear from you, Charles,
and also to hear about
your reporting investi-
gative work.
Tina and Ricky Ornelas
and children, Chris and
Ashley, from Highlands
have returned home af-
ter visiting her par-
ents Edgar and lounell
Billingsley and Bill
and the family of her
sister, Kathy and Billy
Askins and children.
Susie Yarborough had
her daughter, grand-
daughter and family
visit with her Satur-
day. They were: Myra
Jean Suttle.Hallsville,
Glen and Myra Lynn s
Smith and children
Mickey, Justin and
Bonnie of Hughes
Springs. They always
enjoy themselves when
they come to Grannys.
Freddy Yarborough and
son,Bobby Joe enjoyed
the day with them.also.
The Blair Community
Crimestoppers met Tues-
day night, March 20,
with 31 present. The
meeting was called to
order by our chairman,
James Allen 'app and a
question and answer
type discussion was
held. Plans were made
for erecting large
signs at various points
in the area. Donations
were made toward the
purchase of these signs
and for supplies to get
them stationed in the
ground. Anyone wishing
to contribute may con-
tact anyone on the Coa-
mitte and it will be
appreciated very much.
Individual signs may
also be purchased for
$8.00 each. Be watching
for our next meeting.
Coffee, Kool-aid and
cookies were served to
the group.
Charles and I visited
with Edgar and Lounell
and she and I attended
the bridal shower hon-
oring Virginia Minter,
bride-elect of Clay
Taylor. Has a real nice
shower. The gifts were
so useful.
Visitors in the home of
Felix and fAnn Stokes
recently were Paul and
Kathy St. Andre1 and
children from Vidor.
Kathy is the daughter
of Hasie (Stokes) Sum-
rail. They spent some
time fishing while here
Robert Joe and Margaret
Ann Scott enjoyed a
fish supper with the
family of their daugh-
ter, Alan and JoAnn and
children, Jennie and
Robert recently.
Harold and Joy (Crump)
Borski and daughter,
Debra, from Houston
visited Joys Mother,
Effie Crump of the
Housing Project over
the weekend.
Mamie Sapp had a plea-
sant surprise this
past weekend. Her
grandchildren and
"great grands" came to
visit with her. They
were: Joe and Mary
Beaty and daughter,
Misti, from Huffman
and Joey and Cindy
Sapp and son, David,
from Houston. Joey and
Mary are the children
of Billie Joe and
Maxine Sapp of Hou-
ston.
So sorry to hear of
the death of Mrs.Wood-
row Smiths father, Mr.
Brookshire, of Nacog-
doches. Mrs.Mamie Sapp
and Sarah Smith atten-
ded the services. Our
deepest rvmpathy is
with this- family dur-
ing this time of sor-
row.
Edna Lowery of Alvin
has returned home af-
ter a several days
visit with Savilla
Askins. Hosea Yarbor-
ough had lunch with
them one day. They
visited with Jiggs and
Dibyl Herndon one af-
ternoon, also. Other
visitors in the home
of Savilla were Bill
and Karlene Askins,
Houston, Mrs. Robert
Rhodes and son,Scotty.
Nolan and Lorraine
Ashabranner have had
his son and family,
Nolan Jr.,from Coimes-
neil recently.
Delores Ballard,
Brooksie Bearden and
Linda Swonke go to the
Garrison Nursing Home
every . Thursday after-
. noon to sing and they
report a wonderful
time. Everyone enjoys
the fellowship. Last
Thursday there was a
surprise en-store for
“someone". Brooksies
daughter, Donna Green,
had crocheted an af-
ghan for someone over
there. It was decided
to put all names in a
pot and have a drawing-
so the lucky recipient
was none other than 96-
year old Mrs. Nancy
Fancher. She was made
very happy, and shows
it to all her visitors
in her room. Many
thanks, Donna,for doing
something to make
others happy.
Mr. and Mrs. James Hall
had a real nice visit
last Saturday with her
son and wife, Bill and
Karlene Askins from
Houston. So sorry that
we missed you all. Hope
to see you next time.
Bill will be leaving
soon for London and
Saudi-Arabis on busi-
ness for Shell Oil Co.
The ladies of the WMA
had a "Real fun day"
last Wednesday. Besides
our regular quilting,
Mary Lynn Harris
brought her Magic Mill
and demonstrated grind-
ing of wheat and com.
Everyone carried home
with them a bag of each
commeal and whole
wheat flour. Thanks
again for coning our
way and also for help-
ing us quilt. We are
working on one for Mrs.
Joe McNaughton of Pine-
land this week. We
carried lunches to Bro.
and Mrs. Magness today.
They were feeling bet-
ter. Leona whisenant
came out and visited
with us. Come again,
