A Texas Historical Mar-
ker for the Tennessee
Presbyterian Church will
be dedicated and unveil-
ed on Easter Sunday,
March 30, 1986 at 3:00
P.M. The Tennessee Com-
munity is located on
Farm Road 947 half-way
between Timpson and Ten-
aha, Texas.
Early settlers from the
State of Tennessee came
to this area as early as
the 1830's when Texas
was a republic. This
church was organized In
1857 just eleven years
after Texas joined the
union.
The installation of a
Historical Marker recog-
nizes this site as an
important part of the
heritage of the area and
to the State of Texas
during its sasquicenten-
nial year.

New buildings at the
present campus will be
the main cost in the
building program. Two
classrooms, new cafeter-
ia with 240 seats, 2050
square feet library,
pre-kindergarten through
fourth grade classrooms
will be 660 square feet
and fifth through eighth
720 square feet. This
building will house thr-
ee remedial classrooms,
two learning devices
classrooms, and a compu-
ter lab will be built.
The new band hell will
provide two practice
rooms, two restrooms,
instrument and uniform

storage, office and 2760
square feet classroom.
A new gymnasium. 90'X
100' with approximately
620 seats, inside con-
cessions and public
restrooms, six dressing
rooms and showers would
replace the present gym."
This new gym will
house the Jr. High and
High School athletic
teams and provide visi-
tors' dressing rooms. A
laundry and training
room of 210 square feet
and two coaches' offices
would also be in this
building.
