The Silas News
By Wn Lamar Perkins
Sunday, Jan. 5th-News
time and a new year.'
Wish everyone the very
best this year and good
health and prosperity.
We had quiet New Year’s
Day but, did have the
traditional black-eyed
peas. Just hope we don't
have to eat too many of
them this year.
We heard a good sermon
from Bro. Ehring this
morning on tradition. We
all enjoyed it. Had 59
in churcn and no extra
visitors. Vickie Stamps
and some of the children
went to Ramah last night
to the youth meeting.
Some of our members were
on the sick list and did
not go.
Our heart-f»lt sympathy
is with the family of
James Oscar Vaught Jr.,
better known to all who
knew him as 'Shorty*,
whose service was held
Friday at Mangum with
burial here at Mt. Olive
Cemetery. Shorty suf-
fered many months with
cancer and leaves many
loved ones and friends
who will miss him.
Several met at the chur-
ch Tuesday night to see
the old year out and the
new year in.
Phil and Susan Kelly and
chi ldren who came by
last week and visited
his mother, Sophia Kel-
ly. and hr. Ben Childs
