THOMPSON
Betty Thompson, 83, of
Stephenville, TX, a homemaker,
died Friday, July 20,2007, at a local
nursing home.
Services were held at 2 p.m.,
Monday, July 23,2007, at the First
United Methodist Church with
Rev. Bill Grisham officiating
assisted by Tab Thompson. Burial
took place at Gardens of Memory
Cemeteiy. Online condolences can

She was bom on March 14,
1924, to her late parents Doyle and
Alma (Reeves) Watson in
Desdemona, Texas. She married
Brad Thompson on January 23,
1943, in Dublin. When Brad was
overseas during WWII, she worked
at the radio station KFJZ in Fort
Worth, Texas. She was a member
of die First United Methodist
Church. She was the past local and
district president for United
Methodist Women, which she had
been a member of ever since she
joined the First United Methodist
Church in Stephenville.
She was a charter member of the
Auxiliaty Unit 240 of the American
Legion here in Stephenville.
Survivors include her husband,
Brad Thompson of Stephenville,
TX; sons and daughters-in-law,
Tim & Rita Thompson of
Whiteface, TX, and Tab & Debbie
Thompson of Stephenville, TX; 6
grandchildren, Tara Hetring and
husband, Kenneth, of Tyler, TX,
Blake Thompson and wife, Paige,
Reagan Thompson, Kayla
Thompson, Patrick Thompson, and
Daniel Thompson all of
Stephenville, TX; 4 great
grandchildren, Bailey Herring,
Kirk McClard, Hayden Hetring all
ofTyler, TX, and Ava Thompson of
Stephenville, TX; sister-in-law,
Betty Jean Watson of Fort Worth,
TX; several aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, and cousins. She was
preceded in death by a brother,
Harold Watsoa

COGBURN
Inez J. Cogbum, 94, of Dublin,
died July 22,2007 in a Stephenville
hospital.
Cogbum was bom July 27,1912
in Carbon to Hardee O. and Anna
Bell (White) Hearn.
She manied GW. Cogbum Oct.
5, 1979 in Abilene. After high
school and Business College, she
worked for four years for Gulf Oil
in Houston then 25 years for Texaco
as a secretaiy where she took early
retirement
After moving to Eastland in
1975 she became active in First
Baptist Church, Eastland
Community Bible Study, Eastland
Civic League, Garden Club and the
Eastland Music Study Club. She
actively helped raise funds for the
American Cancer Society. She
recently moved to Dublin to be near
her family and became active in the
Church of Lost and Found.
She was preceded in death by
her husband and sisters, Mary
Heitschmidt Opal Hearn, Vida
Reese and Joy Trout.
Survivors include a son, Robin
Peacock of Dublin; three
grandchildren, nine great-
grandchildren; brother Claude
Hearn of Eastland; and one sister,
Loma Faye Becker of Amarillo.
Funeral services were Tuesday,
July 24, 2007 at First Baptist
Church in Eastland followed by
interment in Eastland City
Cemeteiy.
HAYES
Bert Thomas Hayes, 81, of
Stephenville, died July 23,2007 at
Stephenville Nursing Home.
Hayes was bom June 7,1926, to
Harvey Hayes and Thelma Hudson
in Elk City, OK.
He was a farmer, a WWII and
Vietnam veteran of the Atmy and
Air Force and a Methodist
Survivors include a cousin, Floy
Peterson, family members; Carl
Adams, Marilyn Blister, Rose
Adams and Blain Adams.
Graveside services were held
Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Siloam
Cemeteiy with Joann Guest
officiating.
Memorials may be made to the
Sherwood and Murdy Foster Home
for Children in Stephenville.
6th annual billiards tourney set
The Stephenville Senior Citizens Center is hosting the Sixth Annual
Billiard's Tournament on Thursday, July 26th, 2007 at 1:30 p.m..
You MUST be at least 40 years of age to play in this tournament.
No partner needed!
There will be a $6 chaige for each person to play.

Musical Jamboree slated
The Musical Jamboree is scheduled for Saturday, July 28,2007 at 7 p.m.
at the Stephenville Sr. Citizens Center located at 164 E. College Street.
The Cross Country Band, with Ike Mercer, Kaye Tolsoa Todd Early, B.T.
Rhodes, and Brady Rasco, is performing. There will be two additional
performers playing with the Cross Country Band. They are Lany Hawkins
and Ryan Hurt.
The public is welcome to attend this free concert. Please bring a finger
food.

Foster’s Home to host Leadership Retreat
Foster's Home Family Care Program is hosting a Leadership Retreat
August 9 and 10 for youth grades 7-12 who are interested in becoming a
leader.
The program will meet August 9 from 8:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. and
August 10 from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The retreat will beheld at Ihe Family
Care Program a 11794 N. Graham Street in Stephenville. Lunch and Dinner
will be provided.
The program offers a FREE opportunity to enhance resume writing skills,
job interview skills, and social and business etiquette.

Comyn reunion set
The Comyn School ex-students reunion will be held Saturday August 11
at 10 a.m.
The reunion will beheld at the Comyn Baptist Church Annex with a pot
luck lunch at noon.
Family care program to host mini-day camp
The Family Care Program will be hosting a free mini-day camp August
2 from 1:30p.m. to 5p.m. at the Dublin Housing Authority Community
Room fro grades K through 12th. All attending youth will receive a free
school supply starter kit To register, contact the Family Care Program at
968-8443. The Family Care Program is funded by TDFPS.
Mid-Way cemetery annual meeting
The annual meeting of the Mid-Way Cemetery will be July 28 at the Edna
Hill Community Center at 7 p.m.
Christian women’s education course
Highland Missionary Baptist Church will be continuing its educational
program for Christian women Saturday July 28 from 9a.m. to 4p.m. The
program will discuss women’s issues and lunch will be served.
Comyn Baptist Church to host VBS
Comyn Baptist Church will be hosting vacation bible school July 30-
August 3 from 6p.m. to 8:30p.m.
