Two more resign from board
Bill Norris Jr. and Marvin Curry
have resigned from the Dublin School
board, those resignations coming on
the heels of what was, according to
unofficial reports, heated exchanges in
a closed session Monday night to select
a replacement for Don Keith.
Keith resigned after being sworn in,
following the win of his re-election bid,
so that his brother-in-law could be
considered for a coaching job (which
was made official once his replacement
was on the board). That was the reason
for the special meeting.
From all indications, things got ugly
in that closed session. There was
obvious tension in the air after the
closed session.
Curry, who resigned Tuesday
morning, nominated Pam Simon who
was on the ballot this past election.
Norris wrote his resignation out on
the back of an agenda Monday night
and left the meeting after Keith's
replacement was named. Norris along
with Travis Barnes, nominated and
voted for Brenda Faulkner, who had
previously served on the board.
Daniel Thiebaud was named on a 4-
2-1 vote and came to the meeting to be
sworn in.
Curry voted for Simon while Barnes
and Norris voted for Faulkner.
Barnes also left the meeting before
Thiebaud was sworn in and the new
coach hired.
There was apparently some
objection to a board member who had
just Been reelected resigning to make
way for a relative. There was also
objection in principal - not to the
person involved - of naming someone
who had not been a candidate for the
school board.
Curry and Norris will remain on the
board and help elect their
replacements.
Curry said he resigned for personal
reasons. He said he did not sleep at all
Monday night. It was also known that
he had asked a number of people to be
at the school board meeting but no

Boy Scout Troop raised the flag while Joann Pepper sang
the Star-Spangled Banner. Amanda Rasberry sang “God
Bless America”. The program was moderated by City
Manager David Carrothers. Mary Yantis read the poem
about poppies in Flanders Field.
SWORN IN - Daniel Thiebaud was sworn in for
the school board for a one-year term Monday
night by Pam Black.
Thiebaud
named to
school board
Daniel Thiebaud, local rancher and ROTC
military advisor at Tarleton, Monday night was
named to replace Don Keith on the school board
by a split vote of 4-2-1 over two other candidates.
Keith resigned as required under nepotism
provisions as his brother-in-law is a candidate for
a coaching job and could not be hired with Keith
on the job. Keith stayed on the board due to board
policy and voted on his successor.
Nominated were Pam Simon, a candidate for
the board in this past election and Brenda Faulker,
who has served previously on the board.
Simon received one vote from Marvin Curry;
Faulkner received two votes, coming from Travis

smiles as graduation ceremonies got

only 11 members of the class allowed
everyone to know each other. Two
members of the class moved during the
year or there would have been 13
graduates.
92ND GRADUATE - A chair with cap, gown and yellow rose was reserved at graduation
ceremonies Friday night for LeAnn McClatchey who would have been the 92nd graduate of
the DHS Class of 2006. She was killed in a car wreck near Proctor in November 2004. The
