(OVI'RIIU"IE TO THE LIBRARY.
There are ma y books in the pos-
-• ssion of the students of T. W.
which have not been read in nitny
years, and possibly will never tie read
iP' they remain on the shelves in your
homes. Why not contribute these
looks to our library and help sbrm
student.
Could you walk into our well-kept
library and see students in their re-
search work, using some book which
you have provided, making prepara-
tion for their work in life, you will
rejoice.
If you have books and are doubt-
ful about their value to us,see Mrs.
Goodman, the librarian.
At Id o'clock'Wednesday, Fob. 21,
just as 1 started to leave the audi-
torium 1 heard a terrible racket and
I was so frightened that 1 fell head
over into a corner of the Koro hall,
just as a crowd of girls burst in to the
room. I recognized them at once as
the Freshmen, because of their bright
and intelligent faces. I knew that there
would be something •nteresUng. so 1
decided to wait and see what they
were, going to do. Miss Mary Pillow
talked a great deal and it was finally
decided to assess the class and send
Miss Margarite Lacy, who is serious-
ly ill at St. Joseph's Hospital, some
flowers. And then, Miss Pillow sug-
gested that the class have a party at
her home. So a contmitlee was ap-
pointed to make arrangements for a
party. 1 think it is goii g to be a
Mary ,la"e party. My! won't they
have fun.
I found the meeting so interesting
that I decided to attend the next
meeting. I know the Freshmen
won't object. So look for my rexl

Mr Hemphill, (grabbing Sybil by
the arm) "Young Lady, the devil has
certainly got hold of you!''
Sybil—"You're right!"

Nell Groves: "Po you think a stock-
ing will hold all you want cliristmas?"
Veda : "No; but two socks will."
'Take back this junk," the old man
cried,
"Your tonic is no good;"
'Oh, well," the drugstore man replied.
"You can't grow hair on wood."
Piii you ever stop to consider, stu-
dents of Texas Woman's College, ,\y)iile
glancing over the advertisements
printed in the Handout, why they are
there? What a foolish question, per-
haps you may say. They are there to
advertise, of course, Tftft do the ad-
vertisers expect you, the readers, to
totally disregard them? Those who
publish their ads in your paper ex-
pect your patronage. it is a hard
proposition for the business managers
of any magazine, such as ours, to
get advertisements, when the readers
of that paper simply disregard them
or look them over with casual indif-
ference. Persuade yoiy folks and
friends to trade with those who give
lis their advertisements; and the re-
sult will be almost amazing.
Mrs. Downs (at telephone): "Cen-
tral, give me Pr. Bell's residence."
Mary (at her side): "Mamma, why
didn't you call for Pr. Hawk instead
of Pr. Bell last night?"
Mrs. Powns: "Pr. Hawk is only a
Doctor of Divinity, daughter."
Mary, (who had been eating divin-
ity candy) "I didn't know they had
eandv doctors, mamma."
Father: "Who is making thatin-
ferfial jangle on the piano?"
Mother: "That's Mildred at her ex-
ercise."
Father: "Well, for heaven's sake
tell her to get her exercise some oth-
er way."
Ruth Doty appeared at the gen-
eral delivery window and asked if
there was any mail for her.
"What, name please?" asked the
clerk. "You will find it on the letter."
she replied sweetly.
DOING FINE.
"Did your girl pass all of her en-
trance examinations." a friend in-
quired of Mrs. Jones.
"Era was conditioned in the college
yell," she calmly stated.
Professor Boon stopped his Maxwell
to speak his regrets to the lady whose
dog had just been killed beneath the
wheels of the car.
"Madam, I will replace the animal"
"Sir", replied the lady. "You flatter
yoin -i If."
"1 never thought" said Elizabeth,
who had just sung her first song in
public, "that my voice would Till that
; large hall."
"Neither did I." remarked Grace,
| "I thought it would empty the
| place."
Mr. Jennings, to his freshman
class. "Is there aiV alcohol in
cider ? "
Lottis Moore, (looking around the
room wildly) : "Inside of whom?"
Rilla G. (at table, after repeatedly
oassing lulP glass for water) Well.
