DHS Class of 83 to reunite
The Dublin High School Graduating Class of 1983 will be
having a class reunion on June 8th.
If you are a part of this class and have not received
information in the mail, please contact Cindy Eoff at 445-
2435 or 977-3986 as soon as possible.
DISD offers free summer meals
The Dublin Independent School District is participating
in the Summer Food Service Program Meals will be
provided to all children, 18 and under, without charge and
are the same for all children regarless of race, color,
national origin, sex, age or disability and there will be no
discrimination in the course of the meal service.
Meals will be provided at Dublin Intermediate School
Monday thru Thursday, June 3 thru June 27.
Breakfast will be from 7:30 am -8 am and Lunch noon-1

Proctor hosting VBS
Proctor Baptist Church will host a Vacation Bible School
on Monday, June 10, Tuesday, June 11 and Wednesday,
June 12 from 6 pm to 8 pm
Pre-Registration is Saturday, June 8 from 10:30 am to
11:30 a.m. with hot dogs and Kool-aid being served at pre-
registration.
Cemetery group to meet
The Cow Creek Cemetery Association will hold its annual
meeting on June 8, 2013. Interested parties are encouraged
to join the group at the cemetery at noon for a pot luck
luncheon followed by a short business meeting. For more

Erath Republican Party to meet
The Erath County Republican Party will hold a meeting on
Monday June 10 at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church (10005 N.
Hwy 108 in Stephenville).
At 6 pm, Judge Tab Thompson will provide refreshments,
and at 7 pm, he will present a program. The Executive
Committee Meeting win be the last item on the Agenda. The
public is welcome and encouraged to attend!

City Pool to hold volleyball tournament
Do you think you and your friends have what it takes to
win the Dublin Pool Volleyball Tournament? It takes guts,
skill, and very good hand-eye coordination. Who are we
kidding? It just takes luck!

The cost is $50 per team with 6-12 people per team. The

Carey to speak to CTRW
On Thursday, June 20, noon, Jennifer Carey, Erath
County’s Tax Assessor-Collector, will speak to the Cross
Timbers Republican Women at Pastafina’s Italian Restaurant
in Stephenville.
Jennifer has just completed her 28th year in this position.
The office handles the motor vehicle titling and registration,
collects property taxes, voter registration and beer and
wine registration. This office is responsible with maintaining
and registering the voters for Erath County.
Jennifer attended college at Tarleton and became our
County Tax Assessor-Collector in 1985. The voters are
most anxious to hear about the re-districting of last year.

Mosses Golf Tournament Thursday, June 13 at the Iron Horse

Revamped council to
have busy agenda

Arl D. Jones, 87, formerly
of Stephenville, died
Saturday, June 1, 2013 in
Weatherford
Funeral Services were
Tuesday at the First Baptist
Church. Private Burial will be
at the Gardens of Memory
Cemetery in Stephenville.
Jones was bom on Aug. 15,
1925 in Erath County to the
late Moses N. and Alva A.
Monroe Jones.
He married Sylvia Lee
Lowery on July 15, 1950 in
Stephenville. She preceded
him in death on Nov. 24,
2009. He owned and operated
Stephenville Wholesale for
28 years. He also woiked for
FMC in the Shipping and
Drafting departments for 7
years. He was a member of
Stephenville First Baptist
Church where he taught
Sunday school to four year
olds for 20 years. Jones
proudly served his country
in the US Army during WWII.
He participated in the Battle
of the Bulge and survived
captivity as a P.O.W.
He is survived by a
daughter, Carla Jones of
Weatherford
He was also preceded in
death by two brothers, Harley
Levi Jones and Lutner Darrell
Jones; two sisters, Leona
Burleson and Estelene
Huckaby.

Services for Josh Aardal,
33, a water well driller, who
died Sunday, June 2, 2013,
were held Wednesday, June
5,2013, at Rocky Point Baptist
Church with Rev. Josh Lewis
officiating. Burial followed at
Hico Cemetery.
He was bom in Fort Worth
on Nov. 12,1979, to Gary and
Paula (Joiner) Aardal.
He married Kelli Jean
Jackson on Nov. 21, 1998, in
Iredell, Texas. He was a
member of Lingleville Baptist
Church
Survivors include his wife
of Hico; children. Jade, Abbey
Grace, and Kellin Aardal of
Hico; his parents of
Stephenville; his brother,
Colton Aardal of Stephenville,
Texas; paternal grandmother,
Katherine Prater of
Stephenville; and maternal
grandmother, Pauline
Leonard of Stephenville.
He was preceded in death
by three children, Paige,
Mason, and Grayson, and a
brother, Bart Leonard Aardal

CR 351 closed at Dublin Loop
Preliminary agenda for the
regular monthly meeting of
the DubliftN City Council,
Monday, June 10 at 7 pm,
has a lot of agenda items as
four new members of the
council will be sworn in
including one new member
to be appointed to fill a
vacancy.
That vacancy is for Ward 4
to fill the remaining year on
the term of Amy James who
moved to Stephenville after
her house burned.
New members of the
council will include John
Johnson, Ward 1; David Zinck,
Ward 3 and Mayor David
Leatherwood. Bobby Mendez
who was re-elected will also
be sworn in.
Immediately after honoring
outgoing council members,
the council will consider an
appointment for Ward 4 and
then conduct another
swearing in.
Leatherwood will then
appoint a mayor pro-tem and
later appoint the council’s
representative to the
Economic Development
Corp.
Other items on the agenda
include ending the pre-
council meeting and setting a
new time for the council
meeting along with setting
June 25 as a training day for
members of the council.
There is some council
“housekeeping”, changing
bank account signature cards.
The council will hear a report
from Jeff Weaver on the Erath
County Appraisal District
and will consider erecting a
stop sign at the comer of W.
Elm and New Streets.
A closed session of the
council is also on the agenda
regarding property.
County Road (CR) 351 Ls
scheduled to close at the
Dublin Loop on Wednesday,
June 5 through mid-July,
weather permitting for the
construction of a new'
intersectioa
CR 351 will remain closed
until the work is completed.
The closure will last
approximately six weeks.
Motorists are encouraged to
seek alternate routes.

building and maintaining
projects across the state
When driving through a
work zone, some simple

speed limits, pay attention,
avoid distractions such as
