A PROCLAMATION.
I Whereas The Congress of the United States have
passed a Joint Resolution for the admission of the State
of Texas into the Union approved December 29th
1845. official information of which has been transmitted
by the President of the United Slates to this Govern-
ment: and
Whereas by the thirteenth article of the Constitution of
the State ot I exas it is made the duty of the President
- upon the receipt of said information to convene at an
early day the Legislature of the State at the Seat of
Gov rnmrnt established by said Constitution :

Preside.nl of the Republic 0 f Texas by virtue of the power
vested in me by the St.ite Constitution do by these pres-
ents direct and require that the Senators and Representa-
tives elect to the Legislature shall assemble in regular
biennial session at the City of Austin on Monday the six-
teenth day of February next ensuing then and there to
organize a State Government and to consult and deter-
mine upon such other miasures as in their wisdom may
be deemed meet for the general welfarp.
In testimony whereof 1 have caused the Great Seal of
the Republic to be hereunto nffixed
