'Friend to Friend'
Event Slated for
Nov. 18 Locally
The Gaines County Civic Build-
ing in Seminole will play host to a
free event later this month for local
women of all ages, whi ch will pro-
mote health wellness.
According to officials with the
Gaines County AgriLife Extension
Service, "Friend to Friend" will be
held on the evening of Nov. 18, be-
ginning at 5:30 pin. with a viewing
of booth exhibitors, followed by a 6
pin. meal and presentation.
Dinner will be served at no charge,
but AgriLife officials are asking
those interested in attending register
for a meal by Nov. 12.
Seminole physician, Wendell Par-
key, M.D., and local cancer survivor,
Elizabeth Brown, will speak in the
night's program, which will cover
topics related to women's heath, early
detection, and cancer prevention.

Oct 18 -- Deputies with the Gaines
County Sheriffs Office were contacted
to serve a writ and take custody of a
child and deliver the child to the tribal
counsel of the Cheyenne-Arapaho Na-
tion. Deputies with Gaines County were
able to locate the child and turn the child
over as per the writ.
Oct. 19 — Gaines County Sheriffs
Deputies were dispatched to a residence
in the 2000 Block of State Line C,
Gaines County in reference to a prowler.
Upon deputies arrival the prowler had
fled. A report was taken and investigation
is underway.
Oct. 19 -- Gaines County Deputies
interviewed subjects in regards to taking
road material without permission A
report was taken, case is under inves-
tigation.
Oct. 19 -- Gaines County Sheriffs Of-
fice received a call in reference to a theft
out on CR315 approximately 1.5 miles
south of Hwy. 62/180 Gaines County.
Deputies responded to the call and
was advised by the reporting party that
some copper wirre was stolen off of his
sprinkler irrigation system. A report was
filed and an investigation is underway.
Oct. 22 — Gaines County Sheriffs
Deputies were dispatched to CR 307
and CR 304 in reference to a theft.
Deputies met with complainant and a
theft report was generated.
Oct. 22 — Gaines County Sheriffs
Deputies were dispatched to an address
on FM 2885 in reference to damage to
property. Deputies met with complain-
ant and a criminal mischief report was
generated and investigation is underway.
Oct. 23 — Gaines County Sheriffs
Deputies were dispatched to the inter-
section of CR 341 and Nadine Road
in reference to a theft. Deputies arrived
and met with complainant. A theft report
was taken and investigation is underway.
Oct 24 -- Gaines County Sheriffs Of-
fice C.I.D. Unit was working the area of
Hwy. 83 West. Investigators observed
a tan Chevrolet S-10 Blazer disabled
on the side of the road. Investigators
observed two males around the vehicle.
A welfare concern stop was made to see
if subjects were okay. A warrant check
revealed one of the male subjects to have
two oustanding warrants. Christopher
Wayne Mull, 38 of San Angelo was
allowed to follow investigators to the
Gaines County Sheriffs Office to pay
the fine on both warrants.
Oct. 24 - Gaines County Sheriffs Dep-
uties were dispatched to a residence on
CR 251 in Gaines County in reference
to a domestic dispute. An information
report was taken, due to neither parties
involved wishing to file charges.
Oct. 25 -- Gaines County Sheriffs
Deputies were dispatched to the 400 Blk
of County Road 301-C in reference to
theft of a welder and welding trailer. A
report was taken and the case remains
under investigation.

Optimists to Host
Turkey Shoot
The Seminole Optimist Club will
host a fundraising turkey shoot for
their annual "Give a Child a Smile"
Christmas program on the afternoon
of Nov. 9.
The shoot will be held at the
Gaines County Sheriffs Dept. Shoot-
ing range, located three miles west
of U.S. 62/385 (Seagraves Hwy.),
on CR 216 (road north of the Gaines
County Park/Golf Course).
Proceeds from the turkey shoot
will be used for the club's annual
Christmas giveaway program, which
is slated to be conducted in Decem-
ber.
The cost of participation is $3 per
round (3 shots per round).

Oct. 25 — Gaines County Sheriff's
Deputies were dispatched to County Rd
212 in reference to theft of copper wire
from a pivot system. Deputies arrived
and took a report. An investigation is
underway.
Oct. 25 — Gaines County Sheriff's
Deputies were contacted by a company
in Lubbock regarding theft of service
(rental equipment). An investigation is
underway.
Oct. 25 — Sheriffs Deputies were
dispatched to a residence in the 3000
Block of State Line B, Gaines County
in reference to theft. A report was taken
and investigation is underway.
Oct. 26 — Gaines County Sheriff's
Deputies were dispatched to the Fla-
mingo R.V. Park located at 135 CR
249J Space 16 in reference to domestic
violence. A report was taken and inves-
tigation is underway.
Oct. 26 — Gaines County Sheriff's
Office received a call of a burglary that
occurred at a residence 13 miles east of
Lamesa Hwy. Gaines County Sheriffs
Deputies responded to the call and
spoke with the reporting party. Several
items were stolen from the residence.
A report was filed and investigation is
underway.
Oct. 28 — Gaines County Deputy
Sheriff was dispatched to 432 CR 104 in
reference to a theft of a well head. The
deputy arrived and a report was taken
and an investigation is underway.
Oct. 28 — While on patrol Gaines
County Sheriff's Deputies observed
a fence that had been damaged on
County Road 3036. A report was taken
and an investigation is underway.
Oct. 29 -- A complainant advised per-
sons unknown and without permission
trespassed on his property and used
his water from his residence without
permission. A report was taken and an
investigation is underway.
Oct. 29 — Deputies with the Gaines
County Sheriffs Office stopped a ve-
hicle for a traffic violation one mile west
of Seminole on US Highway 62/180.
Post investigation this driver was found
to be intoxicated by alcohol. Francisco
Gutierrez, 58 of Seminole was arrested
and booked into the Gaines County Jail
for driving while intoxicated.
