In Morgan Mayoral Run-Off June 1
MORGAN - Teresa C. Stacey
defeated Pat Murphy, Jr., to
claim the mayoral seat for the
City of Morgan The two faced
off in a run off last Saturday,
June 1, with Stacy prevailing 72
votes to 61.
.* The two were the top vote-
getters in the Saturday, May 4,
elections, but neither had a 59-
percent majority in the three-
way race, forcing the run-off. In
the May election, Stacy had 48
votes, Murphy garnered 40, and
Tina Tuggle took 12 votes.
The Morgan City Council meets

have been under way for a couple
of years, and major progress has
been made in recent months.
In November, the 24-inch tele-
scope for the Paul J. Meyer Obser-
vatory was ordered, with delivery
expected late this year. In January,
the observatory dome was or-
dered, and should be delivered by
late summer.

quired for the meal. For more in-

Pageant Set
ForSaturday
CLIFTON — Cal Foster and
Nikki Stone will co-host the annual
Miss FreedomFest Pageant to be
held Saturday, June 8, at 8 JO p.m.,
in the First Choice (Texas-New
Mexico) Community Room on
Highway 8, North, in Clifton.
The 2001 Miss FreedomFest,
Ashley Horstman, will be on hand
to crown the 2002 Misa
FreedomFest.
Divisions for the annual pageant
include, Miss FreedomFest, Miss
Teen FreedomFest, LiT Miss Fire-
cracker, and Miss Little Sparkler.
Each contestant will be judged
on Patriotic Sportswear of their
choice. Entries in the Miss
FreedomFest division will be
judged in evening wear. All other
entries will be judged in Sunday
dress or pageant attire.
Miss FreedomFest contestants
are required to write an <
longer than 150 words on
Freedom Means to Me ”
An on-stage interview question
will be asked of each contestant.
New this year will be a Most
Photogenic award in each (fivisioa.
All winners will be required to
participate in all FreedomFbst ac-
tivities for the year 2002-03. AD win-
ners must attend all activities
wearing patriotic attire. If winners
are unable to attend future activi-
ties, the tiife wifi be retinquished to
the first runnerup in the dMrton.
