Keene Junior High School seventh-grade girls on the state capitol tour included, from left, Rosemie Loeak, Sherina Thomas, Niba
Morelik, Lesly Limon and Willa Aaron. The trip was organized and led by seventh-grade teacher Lacy Little.
The seventh graders at
Keene Junior High School at-
tended the annual pilgrimage
to the capitol in Austin Jan.
18.
Students attended two
tours on this trip: the Capi-
tol Visitors Center and the
Capitol building. During this
field experience, students be-
came acquainted with unique
Texas history facts, engaged
in hands-on learning activi-
ties and became more aware
of the legislative procedures
that guide the decision-mak-
ing process in our Texas gov-
ernment.
Students witnessed an ac-
tual protest at the steps of the
capitol.
‘Touring the capitol has
and continues to serve as a
great supplement to the tra-
ditional classroom based
learning activities,” seventh-
grade teacher Lacy Little
said.
