to levy an additional tax for- the purpose of building a
Courthouse.
Section 1. Bo it enacted by the Legislature of tho State of
Texas That the County Court of Freestone county is hereby
authorised and empowered to levy an additional tax upon the
persons and property of all persons subject to taxatioil in said
county of Freestone for the purpose of 'building a Courthouse
in said county which- shall be assessed and collected as other
taxes. Provided that tho County tax shall not exceed one
hundred per cent on the State taK.

Section l: Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of
Texa8TbattlleMemborsof tlieLegislatureateach session hero-
after to be; held shall receive from the Treasury of the State
aa their compensation fiyo dollars for each day thoy shall bo in
.attendance on the same and five .dollars for every twenty-five
miles they may travel in going to and returning from the
place of convening tho Legislature.

An Act to encourage the construction of yR'ailroade. ii Texas
by donations qfiands.
Section Is Be it enacted by tho Legislatnre.of the State of
Texas That any railroad company chartered by tho legislature
of this State heretofore or hereafter constructing within the
limits of Texas a section of twenty-five miles or more of rail-
road shall be entitled to receive from the State a grant of
sixteen sections of land for every mile of road so constructed
and put in running order. .
Sec. .2. That any .railroad' company having actually put
under contract as much as twenty-five miles of its road nr its
entire road when tho length may not exceed twenty-five miles
upori filing a certified copy of such contract with the Cominis-
Bioner.df the General Laudofiice and upon depositing with the
Treasurer of the State a bond with two or more good sureties
to bo approved by him in favor of the Governor of the State!

required may file an application with any district surveyor of
any land district in this State a copy of which application shall
in all cases be forwarded to the Commissioner of the General

of Mercer's Colony of effect March twenty-third eighteen bun
drcd nud -fifty shall apply and bo in force in regard to all rights
sought. to bp established and all certificates issued under tho pro-
visions of. thp apt to which this is a supplement. Provided that
rio certificatb shall bo granted or issued under tho provisions of
this act or thb act to which this is a supplement unless tho appli-
cant shall makq all the proof required by tho above recited act
aud shall also prpyo by his or her own oath supported by tho
oath of two respectable witnesses; that he or Ins or hor ances-
tors or decedents lis tho enso may be emigrated to and settled
withiu tho limits of tho territory commonly kuowii as Morcor's
Colony on or before tho twenty-ninth day of January A. J).
eighteen hundred and forty-nine ; and should any certificate
bo obtained by fraud or perjury or otherwise than according
to tho true intent and meaning of this act such certificate and
tho patent issued thereon shall bo utterly void.

of date sixteenth of February eighteen hundred and fifty-two
