Mrs. B. 0. Power and daugh-
ter Joyce of Houston visited

Travis Brannon has return-
ed from a month's stay in Cor-
pus Christi.
Alvin Brannon is recovering
from leg injuries received last
week while at work.

The B.Y.P.U. of the Baptist
church attended- a district
meetiug. at Carthage.; Sunday
afternoon.
Mrs. Martin Kersh and Mrs.
'Carol Thomas entertained 19
guests April 4th, in honor of
Jerry Kersb’s third'’birth day.
After playing a' lumber of
games the children were serv-
ed rabbit-shaped cookies, egg-
shaped sandwiches, grape soda
water and enjoyed a candy
egg hunt. Favors'were bal-
loons tied to chicke'na. The
mothers were served angel
food cake and tea.

Jo Ann Hopkins, Erroldine
Hopkins, James Rex Kersh,
Charles Jones, Dorothy Jones,
Sammy Lou Jones, Jo Ann

garet Ann Downing. Linda
Smith, Wanda Nell Downing,
Johnny Graves, Danny Lee
Stone, Finnie Lee Heaton.
All reported a most enjoy-
able Easter party.

Wilda, April 23.—School
was brought to a close Friday,
under the leadership of Coh-
ron Bush and Mrs. !Lita John-
son.
Hot lunches were served the
pupils this term, respite of not
having a special cook. Mothers
of the pupils and Miss Lita
supplied their need.
Thousands of tomato plants
have been set in the field this
week and the weather has
been good for this.
Tom Smith and wife visited
her father this week.
Vertis Windham and wife
are the happy parents of a
son who came to bless their
home on Easter Sunday.
Mrs. G. W. Crenshaw and
Mn. Fitch visited Bob Bussey
and family and Mrs. Pierce
Whiteside last week.
Miss Helen Whiteside visit-
ed her parents Sunday.
Pierce Whiteside is serving
on the jury this week.
Hardy Hairston and wife
and members of County Board
were given a fish dinner Sat-
urday night at the home of
Pierce Whiteside and wife.

having been transferred from
a Dallas training school to
that place.
Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hudson
of Nacogdoches visited her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto
Bates, Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Mul-
lins and Miss Margaret Mu.-
lins of Freeport, visited Mrs.
Mullins’ grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. W. M. Magnesa, and
other relatives in the commu-
nity Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ramsey
and family visited Mr. and
Mrs. Z. D. Dunaway in Timp-
son Sunday.

Mae Harris won second place
in the shorthand contest at
Longview Friday.

ford Champion Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Solo-
man of Mahl and Mr. and Mrs.
Bird of Nacogdoches visited

prise was the week-end guest

- Silas, April 23.—Our hearts
were made sad by the passing
of Mrs. Lucy Stockman. She
died last Thursday at the
home of her daughter, Mrs.
Eugene Frederick. We will
miss her kind words and sweet
smile, for to know her was to
love her.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Fred-
erick moved to Houston last
Saturday, where Hr. Frederick
has employment.
Mr. and Mrs. John Garrison
visited Mrs. Lela Yoss Sunday
night

Mr. and Mra. O. W. Bussey
of Dotson, have constructed
an attractive and modern five-
room residence in Timpson on
North Fourth Street Mr. Bus-
sey has a position with the
Southern Ice Co., and Mrs.
Bussey is a member of the
faculty of Byfield (Dotson)
public schools. Timpson peo-
ple will be glad to welcome
these citizens as they take up
residence here in the immedi-
ate future.
Joaquin Gets Another
High-Gravity Oiler
Joaquin.—The Joaquin area
had another oil well today as
the Paul Pewitt No. 1 Childers,
Snider survey, flowed 101 bar-
rels of high-gravity oil in 16 ‘
hours on 8-8 ineh choke. The
hole is 'bottomed at 5,062 feet
in Glenrose formation which
normally produces gas distil-
late.
Amount of gas accompany-
ing the flow of oil was not re-
vealed.
The first oil well in the area'
was the Reddit and Gray No.
1 Pickering, English survey. R
made both oil and gas.
