could be done with the government at
Austin but by first bowing reverentially
to his imperial little majesty and very
submissively begging his opinion. From
driving a nail for the State to selling its

Yellow Dwarf bad mixed just enough
with the Democratic party of the capital to
preserve the character of the Vicar of

driver the reader may well imagine what

But he always kept around him his -trikers

C.azettc There was no other alternative

thousand dollars were thus saved to

Land Office with his money bags ready to
reap a lich speculation by purchasing eer-
sleepies who stealthily handed over their tilicates at the old rates. But (iovcrnor

to say that the L'rand sthenic so secretly
concocted in ' Star Chamber" by Yellow
Dwarf to do for hi... and his combination
id' aspiring politicians what the people hail
failed to do heretofore resulted in over-
whelming failure aud defeat. In the pro-
phetic words of A. J. Hamilton Jerry is
political death to any who hang on to him.
We expect that the "organ" of which it
is said that Hamilton was at one time a
stockholder lies given hi... a naUSM for
" organ grinding :" for although it baa
abused and villifled Democrats before their
selection by the party to promote the
elevation of its own favorites it never has
and never will force its Yellow Dwarf Dy-
nasty upon the pnrty. lt may affiliate with
the enemy ut convenient times ; it may seek
to hltcr railroad companies from forfeit-
ures ordained by law; it may inditeslop legal
arguments for the occasion: it mav favor the
importunities of bogus railroid companies ;
it may seek to form a botch notch combina-
tion with all the loose and corrupt material
float. ug in the political circles of the State
but like a leper a plague spot the masses
of the DeffiOOrSOV will point to ii and wa-h
their hands of its touch.
The misfortunes of the political a.spirant-
havc not been more complete than those of
Yellow Dwarf himself. At one session of
the Legislature be had a bill introduced to
pay him 1120000 acres of land for his mud
house iu the city said to be assessed by the
Assessor and Collector of this city at
about SSOjSOO. The organized Democracy
which is now so bitterly denounced by
Hamilton killed the bill oil' This mud
house situated in the middle of the town is iu
the midst of its noise and bustle irroceries
livery stables pork and flour. Yet most
strange to .-ay such was the estimate of
Yellow Dwarf's potter over the Legislature
that the Dynasty confidently expected that
body to buy the mud building for a Blind
Asylum! and his bill was framed for that
purpose. Via of course doubtless received
a share of ids blessings for the failure.
Strange tosay heand his organ-grinder were
then made trustees of the establishment and
Yellow Dwarf reaped some thousands of
dollars by the jobs he received from it.
Yates the poor blind teacher who advised
members of the Legislature against Yellow
Dwarl's bill is said to have incurred bis
lata! displeasure.
When the " Intelligencer organ " was
fairly under headway and grinding to the
tune of the Monied Dynasty Yellow Dwarf
began to feel his oats and commenced a
very ingenious experiment of phlebotomy
on the State Treasury. It was known that
for soiuo years the counties of tho State
i have been permitted to retail the Stale
taxes aud in oonsequenoe it has also hap-
pened that a large amount of money has
been transmitted from this city to the sev-
eral counties iu the way of salaries to
Judges Attorneys and to Assessors and
Collectors. Yellow Dwarf we believe
did most of this business and it was not
long before he hit upon the expedient of
substituting the shin plasters of the fjnioo
Bank of Louisiana which was the first to
suspend lost year for the gold and lifoer
in tho Treasury. Big batches id' these
bills were carried to the Treasury and the
exchange commenced. From a plethoric
treasury of the true and genuine metallic
eurreucy it was gradually becoming like
the lean and lank sides of an exhausted
bladder. Our then colleague Judge Old-
ham gave the warning to the people by
putting certain impertinent ((uestions to
the Dynasty. We had thus caught Yellow
Dwarf with both bands in the crib and
taking him by the neck it will be well
recollected that there was uu awful Hiieal-
iug at the time Yellow Dwarf asserting

pist indeed' The act was so nasty how-
ever that his own " trgam " fought shv.

lishing bis humbug litters of explanation

Still more unfortunate was Yellow Dwarf

gislature to give him the chance of ob-

All the pretexts about opposition to Judi-

and the avowal made that uolesa the Dynasty
can rule the Democratic party must be des-

have the enemy in his true colors. The
movement of Hamilton was with the under-

time in which Yellow Dwarf was heard to

trade of insinuation against the character

The next attempt of Jerry Sneak was to
recuperate the finances of the Intelligencer
Dynasty ly making a movement to obtain
the public printing at the last session lie
set himself to work to electioneer wilh the
members of that body but how he failed in
securing the confidence and respect of the
Democratic portion of it may be seen
in the fact that the concern received in
Democratic oauous only fifteen votes while
tixty-fovr votes were cast for the Suite Ga-
zette. It seems to have wounded hi-patriotic
heart iu its most sensitive plaeo ; for
ever since he has been indulging in envious
Mings at the public printer. It is even said
that he had a flare up iu his own house with
one of his friends because he had known
that he (Jerry) was interested in the
Intelligencer office aud said li;. el hud
failed to interest himself in his behalf;
and we believe that this geutlemau well
known as a high-minded and honorable
citizen of Austin has been a target for his
tqnibl ever since.
It would appear that failure aud disaster
have attended the Austin Monied Dynasty
in all their political and financial schemes
and n.nuouvres verifying thj saying of
Hamilton that the touch of Jerry is cer-
