Green Pond, Tex., Ang. 17.—There
is still some sickness to report.—Mrs.
Pearl Estes is still sick with typhoid
fever. Little Irene Blalock is thought
to be improving.
Yesterday was reported to have
been the hottest day this year.
Qnite a number from here attended
the baptising at Como Sunday.
There was no prayer meeting at
this place Sunday, on account of the
protracted meetings at different com
inanities.
The farmers say that the boll weevils
are injuring the cotton to a great ex-
tent.
Miss Jewell Bowen spent a few
days last week with her sister, Mrs
8 ila Owens.
Some of the people of this place
attended the concert at Pleasant
Grove Wednesday night. All had a
nice time.
Frank and Ida Hooks visited at
Columbus Owen’s Sunday.
Little Dixie Blalock, one day last
week, while going down into the
storm cellar, carrying two jars of to-
matoes, fell and broke the jars, cut-
ting her lip and arm very badly.
She is improving.
Messrs. Edd Bailey and Aimer
Bowen returned to their homes in
Wise county last week.
The Starr Ridge and Reily SpriDgs
ball teams crossed bats Saturday
evening, the scores being 7 to 6 in
favor of Starr Ridge.
The singing school will close at
Starr Ridge Friday, after ten days of
good work. There will be singing
all day. Everyone has a special in-
vitation to come and help Bing.
Sunday is preaching and singing
day. Tulip.

Sherlev, Aug.—No rain to report
this week but plenty dry and hot
weather.
Those who attended meeting at Lib-
erty last night were Misses May Stock-
ton, Ethel Potts and Mattie Lon Har-
rison, Messrs. Rolin Hamrick, Jim
Enix and Bennie Tankerslv.
Tom White is back from Cbildresp,
he says old Hopkins is the place for
him.
T. J. Frazier has bought Tom White’s
place.
Dr. Pickett and Mr. Frazier are to
pot in a drug store right soon.
Mr. and Mrs. Doughty attended the
candy breaking Saturday night at Mr.
Ed. Smith’s. *
The singing school at Divide closes
the 24th with a picnic and concert at
Sherley. Everybody invited to come
and bring well filled baskets.

Richland, Texas, Aug. 16.—Health
in this community is very good at
present.
We are glad to say Aunt Lacy
Sheppard and Mrs. Annie Withams
are improving.
We had a fine rain Friday, and the
farmers are looking better.
The protracted meeting at this place
closed last night with four added to
the church by baptism and several
by letter. The meeting began at Mars
Hill Saturday. Several from Rook
Creek attended.
Fred Matthews has returned from
Oklahoma.
The singing school will begin at
Richland this afternoon, with Taylor

Beckham, Texas, Aug. 16.—Our
drouth is broken, and farmers rejoice
to have plenty of water for stock, and
a rest from bauliug water.
The ladies are busy planting a new
garden. The heavy rains have put
Dew life in everything.
Miss Ivil Hillburn, who has been
very low, we are glad to say is much
better, but another one of the family
is very sick.
Mr. and Mrs. Frazer and Grandma
Beckham are on the sick list.
Rev. E. D. Gaddy began a protract-
ed meeting at Pleasant Grove Satur-
day, 14th. We hope that much good
may he accomplished.
Arthur Page is in Rains county for
a week or more.
We are glad to have Grandma Stin-
son with us again.
Mrs. Charlie Irons was called to
the bedside of her brother, Mr. Hop-
kins, at Nelta.
Miss Sallie Hickliu of your city is
visiting relatives here. We wish her
much pleasure.
Arthur Phillips and family are vis-
iting his mother at Bonham.
Lon Smith and family are in the
east prospecting.
Many are picking cotton- and gath-
ering corn. The crop is short.
Beckham can boast of a new barber
shop and ice house. Arthur Page will
be prepared to sell ice to all who call.

Mahoney, Texas, Aug. 17.—Health
of this community is very good at
present.
The Baptist meeting at this place
is progressing nicely, mnch interest
being manifested.
Mr. and Mrs. Hensom of this place
are visiting their son at Waxahachie.
Miss Maggie Davis of Saltillo is vis-
iting her cousin, Mrs. Sallie Massey,
at this place.
Mr. Tom Leavelle’s singing school
at this place closed today. I think he
has accomplished some very good re-
sults in the singing line.
Mr. Monroe Manning and family,
of Independence, are visiting his
brother, at this place.
Mr. Jack Dodd was a pleasant call-
er at Mrs. Lou Carr’s Monday even-
ing. Rose Bud.

Old Tarrant, Tex. Aug. 16.—This is

here today. It will be conducted by

Sunday night.

Nelson attended the protracted meet-
ing at Liberty Saturday night.

Rock Creek, Tex , Ang. 17.—I will
come again after a long absence.
Most of the people have begun to
pick cotton.
We are all rejoicing over the rain
which fell Sunday.

Miss Lillian Ray spent Saturday
with Emma Baxley.
Miss Cora Nance spent last week
with her sister at Richland, and at-
tended the meeting.
Rev. Beck spent Sunday night with
Mr. Blankenship and family.
Miss Annie Campbell spent a few
days last week with her brother,
Dave Campbell, and family.
Miss Silva Whitlow spent Friday

Black Oak, Texas, Aug. 17.—We are
still having some very warm weather.
There was preaching at Parks
Chapel Sunday by Bro. Livingston,
also singing in the evening, which was
well attended. Several singers from
other classes were present.
The protracted meeting started at
Black Oak Sunday.
Ellis Johnson and wife of Yantis
visited his sister, Mrs. Neyland, Wed-
nesday night.
There was an entertainment at Sam
Shelton’s last Tuesday night.
Mrs. Annie Bullock and children of
your city visited in this community
last week.
Mrs. Sweet Jones visited at her sons,
Wirt Jones, last week.

Mr. Lansing’s relatives have re-
turned to their home.
Mr. Lansing gave a stew last Friday
afternoon. Plenty of stew and a gen-
eral good time reported.
Rev. John A. Stephens, and wife
left Saturday for Cookville to hold a
meeting.
Birch McWilliams and lady of Como
visited here Sunday.
Joe and Ewell Melton attended
church here Sunday.
Ross Jackson and Robert Averitt
of Cornith attended church here Sun-

Bassett is still confined to his bed.
The great revival closed Sunday at
11 o’clock. The ,result was 61 ad-

of this community is very good at

Mr. Lee McCauley and wife spent
Saturday night with Mrs. Blalock.
Miss Maggie Davidson returned
home Saturday, after a three week’s
visit with her cousin.
Mr. Ray Haynes and sister, visited
Mr. B. A. Davidson from Saturday
until Monday. Miss Katie returned
home with them to spend a week or
so.
Mrs. Moncrief and Miss Bell Rey-
nolds spent Sunday evening with
Mrs. Fleming.
Mr. R. P. Blalock and son, spent

Mr. Edd Smith gave the yonng
people a candy breaking Saturday
night. All report a good time and
plenty of candy.
Messrs. John Binion and Clarence
Seal, of Brashear, took dinner with
Mr. Blalock Friday
Mr. Jack Fleming attended the
meeting at Rock Dale Sunday.
Mr. R. P. Blalock and children made
68 gallons of syrnp last week.
Bro. Ray will begin his meeting at
this place Sunday. Let every one at-
