been appointed Vice Chair-
man of the Elections Sub-
committee on Oversight
and a member of the
Elections Subcommittee on
Campaign Reporting and
Disclosure by House
Elect ions Committee Chair-
man Susan G. McBee.
The Elections Sub-
committee on Oversight
will monitor how funds
appropriated to the secre-
tary of State by the 66th
legislature are being spent
and how budget requests
from the office for the next
biennium are developing

The Elections Sub-
committee on Campaign
Reporting and Disclosure is
charged with examining a
variety of issues surround-
ing the current require-
ments for political cam-

Berlangn (Corpus Christi),
Ralph Wallace (Houston),
and Clay Smothers
(Dallas) v
Public hearings on these
subcommittee studies will
begin this fall and continue

tion with emphasis on the
American Free Enterprise
System has been approved
by the executive committee
of the South Texas Cham-
ber of Commerce, following
a series of seminars on the
subject for both high school
students and teachers. —

Antonio, president of the
regional chamber, said that

programs of the founda-
tions would be based on
experiences gained in re-
treat type seminars over
the past two years.
Included were multi-high
school program for juniors
and seniors at Newks
Tennis Ranch near New
Braunfels, on the campus of
Southwest Texas State
University at San Marcos
and on North Padre Island.
The major teacher's train-
ing session was at Wood-
creek in Wimberley. Re-
lated programs have been
held in Pleasanton and Bay
City. Q
Biggs said that the
foundation, which will
operate out of the cham-
ber's San Antonio head-
quarters, will also have
available program outlines
for individual high schools
as well as films, simula-
tion games and other learn-
ing materials.
Details on the new non-
profit foundation will be
presented to chamber
directors in October.
