Local Media Honored
Clarke Boyd, HISD Superintendent
(Austin) — Jermaine
Ferrell of KAUZ - TV was
named to the Media Honor Roll,
a program sponsored by the
Texas Association of School
Boards (TASB), by Holliday In-
dependent School District. The
Media Honor Roll recognizes
media representatives statewide
who deserve recognition for fair
and balanced reporting of news
about public schools. Media rep-
resentatives from approximately
400 Texas newspapers and radio
and television stations were hon-
ored by their local school dis-
tricts.
Criteria for the district se-
lection include the media
representative’s efforts to get to
know the superintendent, board
president, and the district’s mis-
sion and goals; report school
news in a fair, accurate, and bal-
anced manner; give a high pro-
file to positive news about the
schools; visit the schools; and
maintain a policy of no surprises
by sharing information with
school officials.

media.
TASB is a nonprofit asso-

The Holliday “Kiddie
Park” has recently received a
complete over-haul. The new
playground equipment was se-
lected by the Holliday Parks &
Recreation Committee. The City
of Holliday purchased the equip-
ment from Play Well Group out
of Dallas, Texas. The cost for
this new equipment was
$17,000.
The new play structure is
called the “Challenger”. The
Challenger comes with chin-up
bars, critter crossing, leg lift, lift
me up, glide slide, slitter slide,
loop ladder, whirl wind climber
and a u-bounce. Along with all
of this, the Play Well Group do-
nated a $600.00 spring pony to
the new park.
The City Employees in-
stalled all the new equipment
for this park. A special thank
you goes to Andy Pruitt of
Holliday, who took his two days
off from work to assist with the
installation.
The new “Kiddie Park” is
now open
for all the
kids of
Holliday
and sur-
rounding
communi-
ties to come
and enjoy.
