Almost in Mid-Air
This spring water, piped into a man-made stream, almost freezes in mid-air as it sprays the frozen pond. The
scene was typical of the array of beauty awaiting local residents when they awoke Friday morning. The
flowers in the picture give the appearance of birds drinking from the ice. -photo by elnier luck

Ask The Pastor
"Ye shall know the truth and the
iruiii .T.ikc ycu frst" ,,ihn
8:32.
“Seeing you have purified your
souls in obeying the truth” 1 Pet.
1:22.
Without knowing and obeying the
truth one is condemned. He may
learn the truth if he has the desire
great enough to study. Many are
ignorant of the truth for they are not
willing to test the traditions of their
fathers with the “Word of truth.”
Some may know the truth, but are
willing to obey what it says,
therefore it does not purify their
souls, or make them free from sin.
The word truth means to be, "the
state of being true, loyalty, trust-
worthiness, sincerity, genuineness,
honesty, agreement with a stan-
dard rule, correctness, accuracy,
that which is true, and which ac-
cords with fact or reality." Web-
ster.
Genuine honesty requires one to
be true with the “Word of truth,”
and be in agreement with that
which is correct, accurate, and
true. When one closes their eyes or
disregard plain Bible statements,
he is not sincere or honest. Honest
seeks truth, not self justification.
This does not mean that
whenever one is w-rong he is
dishonest. It is possible that he is
ignorant of the truth. But he must
be ignorant or dishonest when
wrong. There is no other alter-
native. There is no right way to be
wrong.
The lack of a sincere love for the
truth manifest an unwillingness to
question what they believe and

practice religiously with the truth.
Some learn the truth, but never
obey it. 2 Thess. 2:10-11 speaks of
such. This evil comes to the
destruction of those who disobey
God, because when they learned the
truth they did not receive it In the
love of the truth. To love the truth is
to obey it. To know ine truth ami nut
obey it is to “Hold the truth in
unrighteousness.” Rom. 1:18.

How many times a year do you open and close your
fireplace damper? Many people leave it open all the
time —so it s always ready when we build a fire in the
fireplace But. the truth is that a fireplace damper that's
open is allowing winter heat and summer air condition-
ing to leave through the chimney in a continuous
flowing stream. And with that loss of conditioned air goes
higher electric bills. Your friends at Southwestern
Electric Service Company remind you of the importance
of keeping your fireplace damper closed when it's not
in use.
