PARTICLES TAKE THEIR TOLL
Air pollution can have a dramatic impact on lung health. A recent sci-
entific study has shown a strong link between levels of air borne prstides
and premature death. Top figures on the smokestacks show each city's
average level of find portides. The percentages indicate the iftaeosirQ risk
for early death when compared to the study's cleanest city, Portage.
For more than 85 years, donations to Christmas Seek® hove helped

The Varsity Boy's
and Girl's Powerlifting team

TX. at Brazosport High
School. The Boy's and Girl's
team parti cipated in the meet
consisting of 17 teams. The
Boy's team competed well
ended the day with a 6th
place finish overall. The girls
competed in their 1st meet
ever. Jamie Blanton,
Amanda Love, Becky Bruce,
Kristy Zeagler, and Cody

school well and competed

Truant officers for
CISD, Beverly Harrison and
Linda Yates, file truancy
charges on parents and students
who are in violation of Com-
pulsory Attendance Law. These
charges can be filed either
through the Justice of the Peace
or County Court at Law in Lib-
erty. We go to court, if not
every week, every other week.
So far this year we have filed 50
cases. Many hours of commu-
nity service have been ordered
and several fines assessed. To
date, a couple of fines have
not been paid, so there's a
possibility some parents may
be going to jail soon. If par-
ents and students would real-
ize how important an educa-
tion is and take advantage of
what's offered here in this
country. You do not realize
how fortunate you are! Many
other countries do not have
or offer what the United
States does. It's so unfortu-
nate that many of our stu-
dents and parents do not vi-
sualize this until it's too late.
