LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Just to satisfy my curiousty
of who is for who in the Sheriffs
race, I made a survey of the
Churches Sunday morning and
the Beer joints Sunday afternoon.
While driving by theparking lots
of several of the Silsbee churches,
I observed stickers on twenty
seven different 'automobiles bear-
ing the name Overstreet and
four bearing the name Moore.
That afternoon I checked on a
few of the parking areas of the
local Beer joints and the count
was IraW. Moore, twenty-two
and Overstreet, three.
Therefore, I am satisfied who
is supporting who in the election.
Let's be honest and ask our-
selves some questions about each
of the candidates and give each
man fair consideration as we
should want ourselves if we were
on the ballot.
Ami voting on me a sheriff,
or the people a sheriff?
I think a good citizen will vote
on a sheriff for everyone.
How can a voter vote on a
man w ithout a platform?
What will Ira W. Moore do?
Has he said anything about
enforcing the law? Has he said
anything, other than that he
worked so many years as deputy
and wanted to be elected sheriff?
I cannot vote on a man who
has no platform. I can’t vote on
a man who has not made pub-
lic that he would enforce the
law. Tcannot vote on a m a n
just because he hasn't done any
wrong or because he needs a job.
In regards to the "Letter to
the Editor" with Lester Parks name
endorsed in the May 21 issue of
the Pine Needle, I would like to
say a few words about that. If
Ira Moore doesn’t deny it, I’ll
have to believe it. It would be
a little childish if 1 didn't and
I wouldn't even be being honest
myself,Tf lt*s true and vn>-,
vote for him, are you having1
consideration for your fellow “
citizen who might run into those
circumstances himself or her
self?
If it's true and you vote on
Ira W. Moore, what are you
going to say if things of that
sort starts happening in your
family or among close friends?
Is it impossible?
That is when people starts
singing a different song if it
happens in that way.
Just a few more questions to
ask yourself.
What would Ira Moore owe
Jim Bums for hauling absentee
voters if he is elected?
After finding out about "Big
Mama" did Jim Bumes fire be
Did he already know about her,
or does he even care, or is that
what he wants?
Last but not least.
Can a Christian cast an hon-
est vote for a man like Ira W.
Moore?Do you want to rear your
children or see- other peoples
children reared in the kind of
atmosphere that we have exist-
ing in Hardin County?
Yours very truly,
AJTax Paying Citizen
P. Se Did you know that there
are a great number of people
that changed their minds about
Ira W, Moore?
Editor's note; This was an unsign-j
ed letter that the Pine Needle
‘ received in the mail, It is not-
our policy to print unsigned let-
ters, but we agreed with, what ^
was said and felt mat you might
want to read it.
