The suggestion that a home
talent minstrell performance be
put on in the near future for the
park, is a good one and should
be seriously considered. The ma-
terial is here ami all that is need-
ed is for the boys to get together
and go to work. The ladies have
surely done their full part in the
matter of raising park funds, and
now it’s up to the sterner sex.
What do you think about it?

Foreman Geo. Strauch and his 1
crew of workmen are moving on
rapidly with the erection of the
new Catholic church building.
The structure having already as-
sumed the proportions of a mam-
moth building, and the tower,
which will reach to the dizzy
heighth of one hundred and ten
feet, has been raised some fifty
feet to the belfrey, and the entire
frame work of the building is
in place. About five or six weeks
time will yet required to com
plete the job and give to Refugio
the finest church building, out
side of Ban Antonio, in South-
west Texas.

Parties selling goods on commission or on half the profits ha ve

Tlios. Goggan & Bros,
He kissed the baby and rubbed
the heads of Sam, Bill and Sue,
and swore the twins were beauti-
ful, and wished he had two—-but
that don’t count. He asked about
the corn bread, which he vainly
tried to chaw, and forthwith
begged for the recipe; of course
that tickled maw—but that don’t

stopped and winked and closed a
jaw, and slipped out behind the
barn and took a drink with paw

A man went into a .store and
asked if he could rest fpr a few
hours. The proprietor
just found a nest of lew born
mice in a coffee grinder, j told him
he could, and then tu ked him
why he didn’t go to a li del. The
man replied: ‘Tamsuffe hngfrom
nervous prostration, an | the doc-
tor said to get a quiet place to
rest, and as I see you d-; i not ad-
veidise, I knew that I c wild find
a quieter place.” And with that
he settled back in his chair and
vatcliod the swallows hliih] their
nests in the cheese easel— Ex.
In the beginning God. created
man, and man created a big roar
because there was no one to help
him cook and wash dishes. One
night after man had been hard at,
work all day fixing water gaps
and setting out, potato slips, he
fell into a deep sleep, when one of
his front ribs was extracted and
woman was created therefrom,
with instructions to take charge
of the ranch which she promptly
did. She bathed man’s side with
mustang liniment., patched his
fig leaf tr owners and coppered
hu small change before she closed
he:: eyes in sleep. In the early
morning while man yet snored,
she arose, prepared the grub and
-punched man in the side with the
batUing-stiek and yelled “break-
fast js ready.” Man was so sur-
prised that he gave a great jump
and fell entirely through his
Georgia bedstead. When he saw
that it was not Indians, and
found out what woman could do
in the way of cooking, he straight-
way made a proposition to give
her a quit claim deed to half the
earth if she would become a part-
ner in the business.- The propo-
sition was accepted, and if they
ever bad any. trouble it never
came up in the divorce court.— |
