Rev. Bowman Craven
Dies In Ft Worth
Rev. L. Bowman Craven, a
retired Methodist Minister who
made his home in Ft. Worth
for the past several years, died
while on the way home from
r meeting of the South Central
Conference in Ft. Worth Wed-
nesday
L. Bowman Craven was born
August 13, 1884, the sou of Mr
Sam and Jennie Keplogle Cra-
\en, near Medina, Tennessee.
The Craven family moved to
Texas in January of 1901, and
settled at Deport. Graduating
i tom Southwestern University
and Southern Methodist Untver
sity, Rev Craven was pastor of
(hutches in Tennessee, Texas
and New Mexico. He had preach
cd at Bogata on occasion.
Survivors include his wife,
the former Sibyl Jordan of Fort
Worth, four brothers, Ben, of
Bogata, Hershal of Greenville,
Sam of San Saba, and Earnest
of Sherman; one sister, Mrs.
Clark Cox of near Texarkana,
and a number of nephews and
nieces.
Funeral services will be held
Friday at 4:30 p.m. at First
Methodist Church in Ft. Worth.
W H D CLUB MEETS
The WHD Club met Thursday
June2 nd in the home of Mrs.
Della McCrury for their regular
meeting.
The meeting opened with the
singing of ‘‘Blest Be the Tie
That Binds”. Roll call was ans-
wered with ‘‘My Favorite Past-
time”
Minutes were read and ap-
proved. A ten minute demon-
stration on making pot holders
and making vases out of egg
shells was given.
The club will entertain the
ABC Club at the next meeting,
June 16. The club received their
new song books. Mrs. Tilda
Clipper was selected as the new
shut-in friend for the next 6
months. Mrs. Frank Brumley
gave a report on home demon-
stration work.
Refreshments ol punch and
cookies were served to 21 mem-
bers and these visitors: Mrs.
Chet Lowry, Miss Myrtle Speir,
.Mrs. Ben Craven, Mrs. Tient
McCrury, Mrs. Lola Franklin,
and Leon Bell.
The Club adjourned to meet
June 16 at the Community
house.

Last Rites For
Mrs. Lela Allen
Mrs. Lela Allen, 76, widow of
the ale L E. Allen, died Satur-
day in Depot t Nursing Home
after a long illness.
Mrs. Allen was born in Lex-
ington, Tenn., and moved to
Lamar County as a rhild. Site

Scout Council Camp,
June 12 with I&ownies regis-
tered from Bogata, Paris, Ida-
bel, Lone Star, Clarksville,
Broken Bow, Sulphur Springs,
Enloe and Cooper.
Features of the session will
be hikes, cookouts, campfires,
swimming instruction, games,
singing, skits, and making new
friends. Girls and counselors
together plain their activities —
some of them to be done with
small groups and some with the
w hole camp. Meals are served
in Gander Hall except when
girls plan cookouts.
Although This lirst session is
lull, a lew vacancies remain in
the second session which opens
ijune 19 according to Miss Lor-
raine Wagner, Camp Director.

Rev. Robert Phelps, pastor of
the Bogata Methodist Church,
was ordained Elder In the Met-
hodist Church at the Annual
Conference held in Dallas las:
week Rev. Phelps was also ad-
mitted In full connection with
the North Texas Conference at
the meeting.
A graduate -of Perkins School
of Theology, Rev. Phelps served
the Bogata church for the past
year, and was re-assigned to
Bogata for the coming year. He
also serves as pastor of the Ro-
salie Methodist Church

Lights in Bogata, Talco, Paris
and Clarksville were off for 1
hour and 7 minutes last Friday
night as a result of trouble in
the T. P. and L Rivercrest
generating pliant near Bogata.

Bogata. Residents are requested
to make a special effort to
police their lots on this day.
City garbage trucks will be
running all day to haul off
trash. Residents are requested
to co-operate by placing their
trash near street corners as
early as possible in order to
prevent re-runs over territory
already covered.
