Bogata Duck Race is on!
After a year off the ducks racje \ye also purchase appx.
will run at Frontiers Day 100 lbs of candy given away
2013. Special dispensation Harvest Festival in
from the City has allowed
use of the creek to once again
run the ducks at high noon.
After being penned up for
two years the ducks are
rested up and ready to float
to the finish line. First place
prize will be $1000.00 You
may purchase a duck from
any Lions Club member.
More specifically: Charles
or Annette Skaggs, Robert
Dillon, Neil, David or Patsy
Rozell, Shirley or Kenneth
Vickers and Jack Dodd. In
the past year your support of
our club has provided two
$500.00 scholarships to
Rivercrest Seniors. We also
purchased and installed a
new metal roof on the pavil-
ion at the park and installed
new volleyball poles and net
and new chain basketball
nets at Thomas Park. We
purchase the candy that
Santa throws and provide the
cash prizes for cars and
floats at the Christmas pa-
October. We 100% support
the Lions Crippled
Children's Camp in
Kerrville, Texas, The Lions
Eye Bank and the Leader
Dog for the Blind Program.
We collect used eyeglasses
where the prescription is de-
termined then refitted with
new frames specifically fit-
ted for needy individuals. As
are many small civic clubs
we are struggling for mem-
bership. If you find any of
these activities worthy and
would like to join our club,
please ask any of the Lions
listed above. We meet the
third Thursday of each
month, 6pm. at the Bogata
Housing Authority. Robert
Dillon is the current Lion
President and Annette
Skaggs will be the new in-
coming president. When
Thomas Park was being built
the Lions Club was 70+
members strong, we cur-
rently sit at 13.
