This view of Farmers’ State Bank on the Houston Street side shows excavating and lumber as remodeling begins with an addition to be added. Remember D*r.
Hubert? That’s his office at far right, his name sti 11 on the building over the door. When the bank was finished, the entrance was changed to this side of the buildihg
and the bars replaced with glass. One of Sam Love’s greater stories w as in the “old days” when he delivered early morning newspapers and found one of our local

Property can be declared to be a Public Nuisance if it receives
several visits by law' enforcement, and we find evidence of pros-
titution, obscenity, gambling, criminal activity, illegal drugs, dis-
charging of firearms or alcohol violations.
Once property is declared to be a Public Nuisance, the Attor-
ney General’s office in Austin will begin to do several things
with the assistance of this department. They are: to seize the
nuisance property, file criminal charges and sue the renter, owner
and manager of the property.
We will be pursuing this avenue of making neighborhoods safer
and better.

Women are spatial and men are global. That is one reason why
they look at things in entirely different ways. It is also a constant
source of friction between men and women. Men have no idea where
they last laid something down while women can generally visualize
and pinpoint where they last saw an item. This difference also ac-
counts for the fact that men find details tedious and taxing while
women are convinced that details are vital and no big deal. This
situation was vividly illustrated to me recently ks Joe and I were
each eating breakfast and reading the newspaper. I had sorted through
the papers a little earlier, picking out what I liked to read and setting
aside what Joe liked to read. I had finished my breakfast and was sitting finishing off my
coffee and scanning the comics while Joe was just settling down to eat his breakfast.
I could hear him at the kitchen table rustling through the newspapers; finally, he asked.
“Honey, do you have the business section?”
“No,” I replied. “I took it out and set it aside for you.”
1 heard him rustling the papers even more.
“1 can’t find it,” Joe said after a bit. “Are you sure you don’t have it?”
“No. ’ I answered. “It’s on the table somewhere. Just keep looking.”
As I finished the comics and began to gather myself up from the recliner, 1 heard more
paper rustling. I picked up my coffee cup and plate and started into the kitchen. It was time
for me to get ready to go down to Michelle and Quinn’s to keep baby Kaelan for the day. I
operate on a pretty strict schedule when I am going down to keep Kaelan so I don’t have a lot
of time to spend on miscellaneous tasks. Therefore, I didn’t take kindly to what I knew was
going to be the next development in Joe’s search. 1 eyed him out of the comer of my eve and
watched him shuffle the newspaper sections from one stack to another to another.
Finally, he said, “I just can’t find it? Are you sure you saw it this morning?”
I walked over to the table and looked briefly over the scattered papers. There, to one side,
lay a section all by itself. I had just seen Joe look at it and put it down. Blazoned across the
top of that section in bold, black type was the word “BUSINESS.” 1 picked it up.
“Joe,” 1 said with the utmost of patience, “what do you call this?”
“The business section,” he replied, somewhat astounded. “How in the world did I miss
that? I must have thought it said something else.”
I just looked at him, shook my head, and went on about my preparations to leave Now,
what in the. world he had thought that section of newspaper was, I don’t know. I just know he
needs to get started on black coffee again; that hot tea in the morning is just not cutting it.
