The sculpture pictured on the front cover, "Sacred Wind," will soon
stand in a Commemorative Garden being designed for the McMurry
College campus. The life-sized statue is the artistic creation of Terry
Gilbreth, a nationally known sculptor and an alumnus of this College.
The garden will perpetualize the memories of those persons whose lives
have been shaped by their years on this campus and who in turn have
gone into the world to work and serve-students, faculty, staff, parents,
churchmen and women, friends of the school. Since the day that our
founder Dr. J. W. Hunt honored the American Indians by adding their
name to our College, the Native American's respect for the holiness of
life has been a cherished part of our heritage. This statue brings together
in one emblem that sacred trust and the Christian belief that the com-
forting Spirit of God, manifest as a Scared Wind that first Pentecost so
long ago, still guides and sustains us.
