He was born Sept. 13, 1B92
at Houston, Mississippi, son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert
P. Davenport. On Jan. 10, 1912,
he married the former Miss
Annie Atkinson at Rockdale.
Two children were born to
them, one dying in infancy.
Mr. Davenport had been in
failing heallh for about six
weeks. His survivors are the
wife, Mrs. Bennie M. Daven-
port of Bryan; a daughter,
Mrs. Tony PatranicHn of Bryan;
three brotehrs, Walter Daven-
port of- Galveston, Delter
Davenport of .Rockdale and
Floyd Davenport of Rockdale;
two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Wink-
ler of Galveston and Mrs.
Johnnie Haddox of Milano;
three grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
Nephews served as pall-
bearers. Mr. Duvenport was a
member of the First Baptist
Church at Milano. He had re-
tired from the cufe business
eight years ago.
The largest hail-stones ever
measured in the USA weighed
1 1/2 pounds, was 17 inches in
circumference and almost 5 1/2
inhes in diameter.
