following. The Sunday show will
begin at 2 p.m. Proceeds from
the rodeo will benefit Crime
Stoppers.
TOURNEY TIME: The
Cleveland Rotary Club will
sponsor its sixth annual high
school baseball tournament
March 8, 9 and 10 at the
Cleveland High School baseball
field. Funds from the tournament
will assist the club fund its many
activities in the community.
During the next few weeks
members of the Rotary Club will
be calling on the citizens of
Cleveland to purchase adver-
tisement in the baseball pro-
gram.
COOKOFF: The Liberty Jubilee
‘Barbecue Ribs and Beans and
Rice’ Cookoff will be March 16
and 17 on the Liberty Court-
house square. For more details

CHURCH DRAWING: The
Cleveland Cavaliers will have a
drawing for a 13-inch color
television March 24, 7:30 p.m.,
at the North Mt. Olive Baptist
Church where the Rev. Otis
Cruse is the pastor. Also on that
night, the Southern Wonders will
be singing.
BOOTH CONTACT: The 48th
Annual Cleveland Livestock
Show and Dairy Day is quickly
approaching. The date of this
year’s week-long event has
been changed from the end of
April to the first week in April.
With the new beginning date in
mind, it’s time for those interes-
ted in operating a commercial
exhibit to make reservations.
Commercial exhibits this year
will run from April 4 through April
7. Those interested in obtaining
a commercial booth are reques-

also available at the First
National Bank of Cleveland.
TAX HELP: Free income tax
counseling for older persons is
available at Deerbrook Mall on
Tuesdays, through April 15, from
9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Mervyn’s
Court. The service is sponsored
by the American Association of
Retired Persons. AARP volun-
teer counselors, trained under
the supervision of the Internal
Revenue Service, will provide
free tax aid. Those seeking help
should bring a copy of their pre-
vious years’ federal tax return
and all forms and documents re-
quired to complete 1989 returns,
including W-2s. For more infor-

OFFICERS NEEDED: The Mont-
gomery County Sheriff’s Depart-
ment needs a few good officers.
If you are a young man or
woman at least 21 years of age,
in good physical condition, can
pass a background check and
are interested in law enfor-
cement, this may be for you. The
department is offering a basic
peace officer reserve course.
Classes begin March 5 and will
continue through April 30

BAND CONCERT: The
Cleveland Band Boosters are
hosting the 40th Royal Braves
Band reunion at Stancil Park
May 19, 1990. The 1989-90
bands will be in concert under
the baton of Jerry Bryant, Pete
Kunkel, Jim Blackshear and Jim
Jones. There will also be an
alumni band and all past band
members are invited to play out
on Ponderoso. The festivities will
begin at 9 a.m. with a musical
carnival atmosphere and include
games, pictures, the concert at 7
p.m. of all the Cleveland bands
past and present, and conclude
with a dance. Anyone interested,

1970 REUNION PLANNED: At-

Cleveland High School class of

ARMOR REUNION: The 1st
Cavalry Division is planning a
reunion in Columbus, Ga. be-
ginning Aug. 8 with early regist-
ration at the reunion headquar-
ters in the Columbus Ironwords
Convention Center. The reunion
will close Aug. 12 with the
traditional memorial service. All
1 st Cavalry Division veterans
from World War II, Korea, Viet-
nam, or any periods in between,

Wranglers 4-H schedule for

George S. Glass, M.D. announced the opening of a PACT (Programs for Alcohol and
Drug Abuse Counseling Treatment) center in Cleveland recently.
Abuse counseling service to open
CLEVELAND — George S.
Glass, M.D., has announced the
opening of a PACT (Programs for
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Coun-
seling and Treatment) office in
Cleveland at 403 East Dallas.
Dr. Glass has been actively in-
volved in the area of alcoholism
and drug abuse treatment since
completing his residency at Yale
University’s Department of Psych-
iatry in 1971. He began the first
active multidisciplinary treatment
program in Houston in 1974 at
Hermann Hospital.
In 1976 Dr. Glass received a
grant to create the first outpatient
program at the University of
Texas Medical School and has
continued with that concept in his
PACT Program. PACT became
the first such treatment program
in a medical/surgical hospital at
Medical Center Del Oro in 1979,
and expanded to Northeast
Medical Center Hospital in
Humble in 1987.
Dr. Glass and PACT provide
psychiatric and substance abuse
services at Northwest Medical
Center Hospital and HCA Medical
Center through inpatient, out-
patient and day patient programs.
Dr. Glass is certified by the
American Board of Psychiatry
and Neurology.
