FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH HAS NEW MINISTER
OF MUSIC, EDUCATION AND YOUTH
Since mid-July, the
First Baptist Church
in Kerens has had a
new Minister of Mus-
ic, Education and
Youth, Lee Hinson.
Lee and his wife,
Jan, are the parents
* of two children and
are residing in the
church manse.
Both are graduates
of Baylor Universi-
ty. Lee holds a Ba-
chelor of Arts de-
gree in Music and
Education, a Mast-
er’s of Music from
Texas State Univer-
sity and is current-
ly working on a Mas-
ter's of Religious
Education at South-
western Baptist
Theological Seminar.
Jan, an "Army br-
at", holds a Bach-
elor of Arts degree
in Business Educat-
ion.
Lee has been in
church work for
approximately eight
years and taught
"for a couple years
at McAllen."
He is interested
in playing the gui-
tar (and is even
giving lessons) and
photography. He says
that he really mis-
ses playing racquet
ball.
Jan is interested
in singing and pl-
aying the piano.
However, her full-
time Job, according
to her husband is
"being a mama—and
doing a good Job
at it."
Lee adds that he
and Jan have never
lived in a small
community before.
He says that they
are really enjoying
the warmth and cl-
oseness of life in
Kerens. He says
that the coming ye-
ars of developing
his work within the
church are going to
be very exciting
ones.
The Tribune Joins
with others in the
area in welcoming
this young family
to the community.

VICTOR N. CROWLEY, JR.
Services were held
Monday, September 12
at Greenwood Chapel
in Ft. Worth for
Victor N. Crowley,
Jr. He passed away
the preceeding Fri-
day at Carswell Air
Force Base Hospital.
Born in 1913, Crow-
ley was raised a fa-
rmer in Kerens. Pri-
or to World War II,
he Joined the Air
Force and served as
a flight engineer in
the air offensive
against Japan. After
the war, he served
his country an addi-
tional 17 years in
Ft. Worth, Sedalia,
Missouri and London
England.
Crowley moved to
Ft. Worth after he
retired from the Air
Force, raised three
children and served

spent Saturday in
Dallas helping Jean
Horn move to another
apartment.
Mrs. Robert Arnett
of Navarro visited
her mother, Mrs.
Mabel Eaton Sunday.
Airman Dale Grubbs
of Sheppard Air For-
ce Base in Wichita
Falls was a recent
visitor with Mrs.
Fayrene Spivey and
other relatives.

chel Lee Bobbitt of
Athens visited Mr.
and Mrs. Homer Bob-
bitt over the week-
end.
Mrs. Jewell Hutson
has returned home
after spending sev-
eral days in Austin
with her sister,
Mrs. Hazel Horton
and with her son
and his family,
the J. D. Hutsons
in Houston. Satur-
day night guests
with Jewell were
Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Hague of Houston.
Mrs. Hague is the
former Hortense
Rampey and they we-
re enroute to a
Rampey family reuni-
on near Palestine.
Mr. and Mrs. W. B.
Stringer returned
home Wednesday after
visiting their ch-
ildren in Houston
and Pasadena. They
visited Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Stringer, Juli
and Patti in Pas-
adena and in Houston
they visited Mr. and
Mrs. Edgar Furlow
and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Stringer
and family and Mr.
and Mrs. Tom String-
er and Matthew. They
also visited, rece-
ntly, in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. John
Goodwin of Kemp.
Labor Day weekend
guests of Mrs. Loisa
Graves were her dau-

Evelyn Howard of

On Sunday they atte-
nded a Poe family
reunion at the
Milton Sheppard home
in Waco which they
enjoyed very much.
Monday was spent
shopping for arts
and crafts and they
were Joined by the
Don Tanner family
for dinner that
evening in the Gr-
aves home.

their mothers, Mrs.

Mrs. Donna York, ov-

joyed visiting with
another guest in the
York home, her niece,

his grandmother

is a patient at the

cana. She is out of
intensive care and
doing nicely accord-
ing to her daughter,
