Urban Edge Developers Builds an Eye Toward Preserving the Future
While Preservation Dallas works to save the city's architectural heritage, local
firm Urban Edge Developers, Ltd., is already working to help preserve the
future. The firm's commercial and residential buildings combine state-of-the-art
construction with striking contemporary lines designed to stand the test of time.
"By employing leading-edge architects, clean contemporary design, and
advanced construction techniques, what we build today hopefully we will want
to preserve decades from now," explains owner Diane Cheatham.
The majority of award-winning Urban Edge Developers projects are concen-
trated in the Oak Lawn area. Many projects are currently in the planning stages,
or under construction, including two townhomes which will be completed in
early 2002. A townhouse project at 4401 Travis Street and a complex of four
single family houses at 4431-37 Travis won a Texas Society of Architects
Design Award this year. An eight-unit apart-
ment building on Cole Avenue won a Dallas/
AIA Award. The Buena Vista project, a
five-story mixed-use building among seven
out of 52 projects submitted, won an Unbuilt
Architectural Award.
Quite a list of accomplishments.
Mrs. Cheatham sits on the Preservation
Dallas Board of Trustees. She's also an
officer and board member of the Dallas
Architecture Forum. 4401 Tais Street
