Doris Owens Entertained
By Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Cross.
Little Miss Doris Owens enter-
tained a few of her friends in honor
of her ninth birthday, last Monday
afternoon at the home of her grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Cross,
on West Summitt avenue.
The house was prettily decorated
in sweet peas and roses** Many games
were enjoyed by the little folks dur-
ing the afternoon. Little Miss Bar-
bara Hatfield, Marjorie Joe Beasley,
Eleanor Merle Dotson, Margaret
Owens and Thrall Sheldon rendered
many pretty piano solos and Doris
Owens and Peggy Dotson delighted
them with dancing.
Refreshments were served to the
following: Marjorie Joe Beasley,
Aline Goldsmith, Rosemary Magee,
Eleanor Merle Dotson, Peggy Dot-
son, Katherine Sheridan, Barbara
Hatfield, Elizabeth Asbill, Maxine
Dooly, Turner Lee Hendon, Francis
Norwood, Nell Adams, LaPoe and
Margaret Owens, George Asbill,
Wichita Sheldon, Keeth Keller, Hen-
ry Ogden, Doris Jones and the host-
ess.

Dance Tuesday Evening.
Miss Dixie Tuttle was hostess to
a number of her friends Tuesday
evening at her home in Woodruff
Heights with dancing and bridge.
The Moonshine Orchestra furnish-
ed music for the occasion, and punch
was served during the evening.
The guest list included: Misses

Minnie Nell YellDell, Opal Tarlton,
Earhne McDannald, Archie LeBus,
Wilma Kilpatrick, Juanita Grisham,

Mrs. Frank Fisher Entertains
With Bridge and Forty-two.
One of the most beautiful affairs
of the season was a bridge and
forty-two party Monday afternoon,
given by Mrs. Frank Fisher at her
home on Wharton avenue.
The spacious home was artisti-
cally decorated in carnations, rose3
and larspurs. The setting blended
beautifully with the handsome gowns
of the ladies. High score in bridge
was won by Mrs. Melvin McDonald.
Mrs. J. J. Cox was fortunate in
forty-two. Both were presented with
dainty gifts. Mrs. Homer Grizzle
was consoled with a pretty hand
made handkerchief. Handkerchiefs
were also given as table favors.
At the close of the games a
delicious ice-course was served to
the following guests: Mesdames S.

O’Pry, J. A. Wise, Gaston Scott, J.

Presbyterian Auxiliary
With Mrs. Brock.
Mrs. T. J. Brock entertained the
Presbyterian Auxiliary at her home
on South Main street Tuesday af-
ternoon.
The Bible lesson was studied,
which was led by Mrs. Brock.
The ladies of this Auxiliary are
planning an Ice Cream Social to
be held Saturday evening at the
home of Mrs. John Brown. Every-
body is invited to attend this social.
Mi's. J. M. Hemby will entertain
the Auxiliary Tuesday, June 24.

of ’ Carlinsville, Illinois, motored over
from Wichita Falls Tuesday morn-
ing for a visit with Bliss Archie
LeBus.
At 12 o'clock, Mrs. F. L. LeBus
entertained the guests with a lun-
cheon and -at 2, Rev. and Mrs. By-
ron Hester entertained with an in-
formal tea for the visitors and their
hostess.
Miss LeBus attended Ward-Bel-
mont last year and was class mate
with the other young ladies.

Evangelical Church Sunday was en-
joyed by a large crowd.

in Electra Sunday.
The young folks enjoyed a sing-

Mr. and Mrs. John Givens had as
guests Sunday, Mr. and Blrs. Jess
Hamilton of Duncan, Oklahoma. Mrs.
Roscoe Leffingwell of Electra and
friends from Iowa Park.
One of the most elaborate social
functions of the season was enjoyed
by an immense crowd at the Fred
Lalk home Saturday evening. Re-
freshments consisting of cake and
ice cream were served by the host-
ess, Miss Etta Lalk.
The majority of our farmers have
finished cutting grain, and it will
be only a few days till threshing
will be in full force. In the mean-
time, row crops are being cultivated.
Grasshoppers are doing consider-
able damage to crops in this com-
munity, and unless we have rain
within the next few days our gar-
dens will be burned up by hot
winds.
RETURNS WITH BRIDE
J. U. Bristo, of the Lina Motor
Company, of this city, surprised his
many friends by coming back from
a short week-end trip Monday morn-
ing with a bride, who was formerly
Miss Irma Weakley, a prominent
young lady of Comanche, Oklahoma.
Mr. Bristo is head parts man at
the Lina Motor Company, and is
also captain of the Lina's fast base
ball team in the Twilight League
here. They are at home at 811 North
Main street.
