259 So., to help raise money for the Department. Registration &
Viewing of trucks from 9:30 to 11AM, BBQ plates sold starting

DRT MEETING
Saturday, Sept 13 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter
of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will meet at noon
on at the Sam Samford Lodge in Center. The Chapter will be
joined by the Gateway to Texas Chapter of the Sons of the
Republic of Texas for the annual “Get Acquainted” luncheon.
Following the luncheon, the DRT Chapter will have a new
member installation ceremony, review the past year and plan
for the upcoming year while the Sons will make plans to move
forward with their Chapter. Members, prospective members
and guests for either organization are urged to attend. For more
information call Maggie Casto at 248-3361.

Saturday, Sept 13 - Men of Shelby and surrounding coun-
ties, the Gateway to Texas Chapter of the Sons of the Republic
of Texas would like you to be a part of revitalizing the chapter.
If you had an ancestor (male or female) in Texas prior to
February 19, 1846, this is for you. The mission of the Sons
of the Republic of Texas is to encourage historical research,
preserve historic sites, documents and artifacts, participate in
community activities, reminding the public of its Republic of
Texas heritage and to observe dates important in the history
of the Republic of Texas. You are invited to meet with the
SRT Chapter at noon on Saturday, September 13, at the Sam
Samford Lodge in Center as they join the William Carroll
Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas
for a “Get Acquainted” luncheon. For more information call

Thursday, Sept 18 - The Deep East Texas Council of Gov-
ernments (DETCOG) will hold its monthly board of directors
meeting at the First Baptist Church in Woodville, Texas. Lunch
will be served at noon, with the board meeting to immediately
follow. Anyone needing information concerning the meeting
