EDUCATING WOMEN VOT-
KRS.
Federal woman suffrage was
ratified by the 31st state the
other day. The chances that wo-
men will vote everywhere at the'
fall election for president nr
growing stronger. If so, there
is a big job in the states that
have not had the suffrage, t
educate the women to take up
for the first time the responsibi-
lities of the* franchise.
The majority of women in'
non-suffrage states have not so
far taken a deep interest in pol-
itics. This has been perlCitly
natural, since they had no direct
method of expressing tin ir con-
victions.
Clubs ami other organizations
of women in the non-sulfrag
states should take up this mat-
ter at once. They should a
semble just as many women i
possible to consider the funda-
mental problems of eititnship
also the history of political par-
ties and political methods. Che
effort should be made to inter-
est every woman in her prosptv -
tive new duties. Only in that
way will they b. able to vote
intelligently.
