62-64Writing an editor's note is not easy, as making a
break from the boundaries of tradition also is not
an easy task, but we've done it. Converting TJC's
TEMPLAR from yearbook to magazine was the
primary goal of the 1978 staff. When we chose to
make the change, as many colleges and universi-
ties have done, we also chose to accept the criti-
cism as well as the praise we received from stu-
dents, faculty and administrators. However, be-
cause of our determination to make the magazine
a success my small staff worked late night hours
and sacraf iced many of their normal activities, as
well as sleep during deadline weeks. For this, I
wish to express my gratitude. On behalf of the
entire staff, I hope that our efforts have produced
a publication that the people of TJC will enjoy.
I also wish to express my thanks to Jim Blakely
of Topeka, Kansas, who contributed his tremen-
dous photographic talents, and to William
Rucker, for his color print reproductions, and to
everyone else who showed the badly needed pa-
tience with me during the building of my first
publication.PIERRE ISHAM
