CORRECTION
In the recent engagement an-
nouncement of Miss Connie
Bryant, the last name of the
prospective bridegroom was
omitted in the head of the story
and should have read, James
David Howard Mims.
Also his fraternity affiliation
should have read, Alpha Phi
Omega.
GIN OFFICE BURGLARIZED
Junior Reeves went to work
last Thursday morning and dis-
covered that the office of the
O’Brien Co-op Gin had been
broken into. The thief entered
through a window sometime
during the night and took the
money from the cigarette and
Coke machines and four tires.
Investigating officers were
Haskell Sheriff Garth Garrett
and Texas Ranger Homer T.
Melton. Charges have not been
filed at this time.
SCHOOL NEWS
Friday night at Benjamin, the
O’Brien basketball teams will
play their last games of the
year.
The district grade school
basketball teams will play their
last games of the year. The
district grade school basket-
ball tournament will be held at
Paint Creek all next week.
O’Brien girls will play Paint
Creek at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb-
ruary 17, with the boys play-
ing at 5:30.
Beginning February 24, a
fifth and sixth grade B tourney
will be played here at O’Brien.
Teams are entered from Knox
City, Rochester, Munday, Paint
Creek, Old Glory and O’Brien.
School will be dismissed
March 7 for an Oil Belt Teach-
ers Meeting in Abilene.

husbands attended a Haskell Co.
TSTA meeting last Monday night
at Rochester. Reports are that
the meeting was well attended
and the food was delicious.
O’Brien will host another TSTA
meeting later in the year.
BIRTHDAY PARTY
Eddie Adkins was surprised
with a birthday supper and 42
party, at his home, Wednesday
night, Feb. 5, 1969.
Those helping him celebrate

Dean's List
At Texas Tech
RULE - Judy New and Nan
Jones, daughters of Mr. and
Mrs. L. W. Jones Jr., made
the Dean’s List at Texas Tech
of Lubbock for the fall semes-
ter.
Judy, a senior, is majoring in
Home Economics Education and
maintained a 3-point grade av-
erage on a 4-point system tak-
ing 17 semester hours.
Nan, a freshman, has a doub-
le major in Home Economics
Education and Child Develop-
ment. She had a 3.6 grade
average on the 4-point sys-
tem with 18 semester hours.
Both are graduates of Rule
High School.

RULE - “Our Adult Basic
Education classes will start
as soon as we get our start-
ing date from the Texas Edu-
cation Agency”, stated Mr.
Connor Horton, superintendent
of school at Rule.
Much interest has been shown
by the number of inquiries that
have been made through the
superintendent's office.
If anyone has not contacted
the Rule School and is inter-
ested in enrolling please con-
tact Mr. Connor Horton at
once.
Classes will probably start
in ten days or two weeks.

RULE -A Valentine party was
given for the Junior Sunday
School class taught by Mrs.
Jewel Ousely and Mrs. Bertha
McQuinn in the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Novis Ousley Sunday
night.
After games were played re-
freshments of sandwiches,
Cokes, Frito corn chips, po-
tato chips, cookies and cake
were served to Vickie Greeson,
Sandy Oliver, Randy Sharp of
Rochester, and two guests, Me-
linda Webb of Rule and Karen
Sharp of Rochester.

bock visited over the weekend

Mrs. James Barr of Dalhart
spent Thursday night with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben
Kittley.
RULE - Mrs. R. H. (Ruth)
Smith, 81, former Rule resi-
dent, died at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday
in Caprock Hospital after a
lengthy illness.
Funeral was held at 2 p.m.
Thursday at First Baptist
Church at Rule with the Rev.
F. C. Bradley, pastor of First
Baptist Church of Floydada, of-
ficiating. Burial was in Rule
Cemetery under direction of
Moore-Rose Funeral Home of
Floydada.
Mrs. Smith was born Ruth
Turner August 1, 1887, at Italy
in Ellis County and moved to
Haskell County when a child.
She was a resident here many
years, moving to Floydada sev-
eral years ago.
Survivors include three sons,
M. C. of Floydada, Billy T. of
Big Spring, and Ted of Fort
Mead, S. D.; one daughter,
Mamie Sue Carlile of Hurst;
three brothers, Frank and Rob-
ert Turner both of Rule, and
Homer Turner of Sweetwater;
two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Teniek
of Rule and Mrs. R. E. Gooch of
Ennis; seven grandchildren and
one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Lamar Casey were her
father, Mr. T. D. Camper of
Morrelton, Arkansas, her
brothers, Pete Camper who has
retired from service in Florida,
Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Camper
and daughter, Tamara, who has
returned after three years in
Germany, their daughter, Sonja
and her friend, David Parr, both
students at McMurry.
Lynda Matysiak attended the
Rule-Old Glory basketball game
Friday night and returned to
Abilene Saturday where she is a
student at McMurry.

Monday morning for medical
treatment.
