prospective students to Hardin-

A highlight to the introduction to
the Forty Acres was the Tim Shep-
pard concert.
The contemporary concert was a
unique combination of Christian
music and personal testimony.
In addition to the concert the
high school visitors had a full week-
end of orientation to HSU. Friday's
schedule included campus tours and
visits to classes. The high schoolers
attended two classes Friday morn-

The switchboard operators have
been moved out from their hole In
the wall Into the foyer of Sandefer
Memorial Hall.
The new switchboard desk was
donated by the InterFlrst Bank
Abilene North America in ex-
change for the exposure of the
donation said the Supervisor of
Business Management William D.
Johnson. Inter First was remodel-
ing the Interior of the business
area and offered the switchboard
desk to Hardin-Simmons since the
university and the bank engage In
business affairs said Johnson.
The switchboard has three
operators: Blllle Reed who has
worked as an operator for 1 6 years

the afternoon.
Joyce Hodges who works from
1:45 in the afternoon until 6:00 in
the evening had worked as a
switchboard operator for 5 years.
The evening operator from 6:00 un-
til 10:00 is Frances Reed--no rela-

you after an hour."
Hodges also pointed out that
now people are beginning to
realize that the switchboard
"operator" is actually the "Infor-
mation" relater. As Mr. Johnson
suggested the new desk "helps
the visitors-new people--and
utilizes the telephone operator."
As some students believed that
the school spent funds un-
necessarily for the desk Johnson
readily defends the school's posi-
tion saying that we "go through
life trying to improve things." From
the point of view of the university
this Is what has been attempted in
accepting the switchboard desk es
a donation to the school.
