“The new plant, modern
in every respect, provides
complete treatment of all
wastes discharged into our
sanitary sewer collection
lines," Naid Mayor John
Rudder. "Treatment will de-
stroy all organic matter and
chlorination will kill all dis-
ease bacteria.” he added.

The plant, complete with two
stage clntifier, Imhoff Diges-
tor with sludge heater and
mixers, two Htago trickling fil-
ters, sludge drying beds, bar
screens, grit chambers, skim-

equipment were recommended by
the Department of Health and
the Texas Water Pollution
Hoard. A laboratory anil lab
equipment were also installed
so that all necessary tests could
be made to determine treat-
ment and control necessary to
comply with requirements.
"The capacity of the new
plant is designed to service a
population of 271,060 and it
should serve the Citv of Bra.ly
for many years," said City Supt.
James Feazelle.
Designing engineer of the
facility was the firm of
Freese, Nichols and Kndre.va of
Fort Worth. Contractor on the
plant was Goolsby Engineering
Co., of Temple. The new outfall
line was constructed by Robert
Guyler Construction Co. of Lam
pasas.

inch line will relieve the
heavy load that was on the
present lines from 11th
street North. All Stanburn
Addition wastes will go
through the new line to the
plant and this line will
make the south sertion col-
lection line good for many
years.
The new plant is under the
any public stream.
Operation of the oH plant
required that all waste water
he held in ponds or lagoons
until it evaporated or wns ah-
sorbed into the ground. As the
population of Brady increased
the load increased. Evaporation
and absorption could no longer
dispose of such great amounts.
When heavy rains occutrcd in
the area of the plant, wash
water overflowed into Brody
Creek, causing a health haz-
