Senior Citizens Hear
Review at Luncheon
Forty grandmothers plus 10
wishfuls were literally in
stitches when Mrs. R. L. Akins
of Brady reviewed, “I Just Hap-
pened to Have Some Pictures,’
at a luncheon meeting of the
Rochelle Study Club on Satur-
day, April 3.
The Public Affairs and the
Social Committees were hostess-
es honoring the senior citizens.
Mrs. L. A. Bryson, brought
greetings to the 30 guests anil
20 members present.
Mrs. George Harris gave the
thought for the day, “The Art
of Staying Young.” Mrs. Har-
ris reminded the group that
the Fountain of Youth is inside
oneself. She said that is to stay-
young one must stay construct-
ively busy; keep an open heart,
mind and spirit and stay busy-
doing good.
Mrs. Akins, a grandmother
of six, lived the hook hy Willie
Snow Etheridge as she related
the story to the group. For the
benefits of the few non-grand-
mothers she said the letters
PPG and SOG mean Picture
Packin’ Grandma and Silly Ole
Grandma. A grandmother will
never be in trouble with a
grandchild if she will keep her
mouth shut and her purse open
for no grandchild believes the
old adage thnt money grows
on trees: it grows on grandpar-
ents.
Most grandmothers.dread to j
see their offspring leave after
even a week-end visit for there
is such a struggle to get them j
off.
“Then after the last goodbye, j
and grandmother begins to pick
up, she discovers a washer load j
of diapers and such that you’ve |
washed and now must dry and
find a box, as you must get
them off in the next mail.
But what Grandma doesn't
love all that for she is entitled
to say, "I Just Happened to
Have Some Pictures.”
Guests attending were Mmes.
Annie Bryson, A. M. Wingo,
Jack Simpson, J. C. Penn. Er-
nest Penn, Chesley McDavid,
Henry Johanson, Mary Ella
Johnson, D. S. Pumphrey, Stel-
la Cole. Bill Eng.lahl, L. C.
Sansom, W. H. Williamson, T.
E. Vickery, Robert J. Barclay,
I,ena Brown, Leslie Rodgers,
i Dee M. House, Cap Gamblin,

| N. H. Sellman, Walter Kngdahl,
W. E. Crocker, Jack Crew, M.
1 A. Gainer, Tobe Smith, G. C.
' Mathews and Ruby Griffay.
Mrs. Jack Crew was the old-
est present. She could boast of
grandchildren and great-grand-
children and most likely she
“just happened to have some
j pictures.”
