Euitok Journal:—•
Regular autumn weather prevails.
A norther was blowing the whole
week though not cold, but still it
was chilly. One more week such
favorable weather and the farmers
will have gathered their crops.
This section seems to have been es-
pecially favored by Roosevelt-Mc-
Kinley prosperity. The cotton crop
was very good. Not much cotton
has been marketed. The farmers
know that the supply and demand
regulate the price of the staple and
not the tumultuous republican ad-
ministration.
Corn is bad, being far below the
average yield.
Geo. K. Burgess addressed the
voters of this precinct on Oct. 3d.
Many of the younger voters turned
out to hear this brilliant speaker.
Mr. Burgess discussed the issues of
RUTERSVILLE.
“ The Great Harvest Feast,” an-
nounced some time ago, took place
here yesterday. The weather was
beautiful, and in consequence a
good crowd was present to partici-
pate in the festivities. Everybody
seemed to be in good humor, and
the ball, which took place at night
lasted till unto the small hours of
the next morning. Politically, the
feast was a democratic success.
Judge Moore delivered an eloquent
address to the people, in which
trusts were unmercifully roasted.
Upon concluding, the judge intro-

flowing, Jake Wolters arrived from
Warrenton and had, of course, to
make a speech. Comment is un-
necessary. He was wildly cheered
and after being introduced as "the
to Galveston most popular man in Fayette coun-
ty” made a ringing appeal to all
voters, irrespective of party affilia-
tions, to support Burgess for con-
gress and thereby secure our grand
republic from becoming imperialis-
tic, to the extent of one vote in
congress. Nat Q. Henderson, a
republican spell binder, had intend-
ed, (as was rumored) to speak also
but the gentleman did not show up.
