Oral History Interview with Felix Burrus, April 10, 2016

Description: The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Felix Burrus. Burrus joined the Army Air Forces in August of 1944. He completed Airplane Mechanics School, and served as a B-29 mechanic with the 5th Bomb Group, 313th Bomb Wing. In early 1945, Burrus was assigned to Clark Field in the Philippines, where he worked through the end of the war. He received his discharge in November of 1946.

Description: Transcript of an oral interview with Jack Puryear. Puryear went into the Navy in 1943 and wound up in aerial photography, training at Pensacola, Florida. Upon completing training, Puryear shipped out to Guadalcanal and joined Fleet Aerial Photo Squadron One. Description: The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with Dwight A. Dahmes. Dahmes was born 18 July 1918 in Clements, Minnesota. In 1936 he attended Westmar College in Lemars, Iowa where he joined the 133rd Infantry Regiment of the Iowa National Guard (part of the 34th Infantry Division). Description: The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with Lloyd Wiltse. Wiltse joined the Navy and was a submarine officer during World War I. He received his first combat star at Pearl Harbor, as commanding officer of the USS Detroit (CL-8). Oral History Interview with Tommy Blake, May 15, 2015

Description: The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Tommy Blake. Blake joined the Army Air Forces in 1943. He completed gunnery, airplane mechanic and flight training. Blake served as P-38 pilot with the 26th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron, 5th Air Force. Beginning in 1944, he flew missions in support of the Philippines Campaign. After the war ended, Blake completed aerial reconnaissance over Okinawa and Korea. He returned to the US and received his discharge in May of 1946.

She worked in Jackson, Mississippi in a U.S. Attorney’s office. Lutken describes the local environment and situations she observed. Description: The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Charles Huffman. Huffman joined the Navy in March of 1944. He completed Midshipman’s School in mid-1945, and was completing Advanced-Line Officers School in Florida, when the atomic bomb was dropped. He continued his service after the war ended, traveling to Naval Supply Depots in the Pacific, processing supply requests. Huffman returned to the US in August of 1946, though remained in the reserves through May of 1958.
