Oral History Interview with Manual Sablan, July 8, 1997

Description: The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with Manual Sablan. Sablan was born in Saipan and became a messenger for the Japanese police when he was a teenager. Japanese troops had occupied his family home by that time. To remain safe during bombardments, Sablan lived in a manmade cave behind the police station. Description: Audio cassette from The Black Academy of Arts and Letters recorded during one of two spring dialogues featuring the Black Living Legends of 1997. The tape was recorded on March 8th, 1997 and featured C.C Berry, Clifford Davis, Iola Johnson, Jean Lacey, Lucy Phelps-Patterson. The tape includes one track of poorly recorded audio with indistinguishable speech and medium static throughout.
