Description: The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an interview with Charles Engel. Engel joined the Navy in December of 1939. He served aboard the USS Zane (DMS-14) as Chief Signalman. Engel was aboard the Zane on 7 December 1941 in Pearl Harbor. At 7:55am he heard the planes and identified the marks on Japanese planes. Description: The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with David Greathouse. During the war, Greathouse spent summers in the scouts and junior ROTC program. After making regimental commander at age 15, he became an unofficial member of the Texas State Guard, even providing marksmanship instruction.
