Smith discusses how he came to Caltex in 1937, his work as an accountant in Bahrain, the company's organization and its relations with the oil business there, living arrangements and social life, World War II, issues with Bahraini labor politics, his transfer to New York and work there, and Caltex's worldwide operations.
