Description:
The photo shows the Harrison County Courthouse burning on June 7, 1899. Materials left by a repairman working on the roof caught fire. Several groups, including a man on a horse, watch from N. Washington St. This was the third county courthouse, completed in 1889. Designed by Tozer & McQuirk of Dallas, local builder James Higgins did the construction.
