Description: List of paupers at the Travis County Poor Farm from 1890-1900. Ledger includes inventory of property belonging to the Travis County Poor Farm; list of paupers; list of hands hired; list of county convicts sent to the Poor Farm to work out fines and costs; supplies purchased; sales made of produce of the Poor Farm; and, total expenditures and receipts. Pauper information includes name, date when first entered the Poor Farm, age, sex, nativity, color, date of discharge and reason for discharge.

Description: Photograph of University of Texas Longhorns vs. Kansas City Medics at Clark Field. The weather is sunny and cloudless as the two teams line up against one another. The crowds pack closely together along the two sides of the field. The University of Texas began its football program in 1893 managed by Albert Lefevra, playing two games in the fall and two in the spring. The following year, the team hired its first official head coach, R.D. Wentworth.

[Letter from Linnet Moore to Charles and Mary Moore, March 19, 1900]

Description: Letter from Linnet Moore to her parents in which she relates the details of an accident she had where she fell and hit her head. She was in bed for two days. She also attended an organ recital, took a tour of Austin, Texas in a rig with rubber tires, and attended the Episcopal Church. She asks her mother about the flower garden.

[Letter from Carter Dalton Linnet Moore, April 8, 1900]

Description: Letter from Carter Dalton to Linnet Moore in which he confesses that he forgot to "check your trunk and have cussed myself over and over for so doing." He tells her about a dam that washed away killing nine men in Austin, Texas. He asks Linnet's advice on answering a letter from a woman. He wants to keep her as a friend, but not encourage her to think he wants more from the relationship. He say that he is thinking about going "to the Territory" next summer.

[Austin Dam broken in Colorado River flood]

Description: Photograph of Southeast view of the Austin Dam on the Colorado River after breaking during a flood. The dam was built in 1890 in an attempt to bring industry to the city, but failed after upriver storms sent a flood cracking the dam and killing eight people when the powerhouse flooded.
