[Two Letters to Linnet, 1898]

Description: Two letters written to Linnet Moore. The first, from E. E. Welherald discusses local news, a church function, and inquires about the well being of Linnet's family. Charles Moore wrote an additional letter to Linnet on the reverse side of E. E. Welherald's letter, wherein he wrote about Welherald, family business, and news. The letters included two envelopes since the first letter and envelope was forwarded after adding notes.

Description: Cabinet card photograph of Dr. James Walter Allen at the age of nineteen. He wears a dark pea coat and slightly baggy pants. He leans one arm on a studio prop that looks like the end pillar of a low decorative stone wall. The backdrop is painted sky, pathway, and trees. At the bottom of the card is printed text that reads, "Ardmore. Downing, Ind. Ter." An inscription in pencil on the back of the card reads, "Father - when I was nineteen-"

Wire Twister and Tightener.

Description: Patent for a wire twister and tightener for wire fences. With this invention, "the fence-wire is caused to be contracted, twisted, and made taut" (lines 17-18). It is a set of toothed ratchet wheels that have v-shaped slots for the wire. Pawls act on the teeth, and springs and levers move the pawls.
