Veil hatlet

Description: Hatlet of black velvet ribbon and net veiling. The headpiece consists of a flat black velvet ribbon bow with trailing ends that sits at top of wearer's head at center of a veil of fine black mesh. Around front and sides is applied black cording wreath form and second layer of larger mesh with chenille dots at intersections.

Hatlet

Description: Hatlet of black plastic, velvet, and veiling. Three thin crossed black bands form an off-center "*" which forms the shallow, curved crown of the hatlet. At top crossing, and at front two band ends are applied black velvet bows. The whole is overlaid with black veiling/net. No labels.

Headpiece

Description: Headpiece of black net/veiling, black velvet ribbon, and off-white crocheted flowers. The headpiece is formed of five radiating thin black velvet ribbons forming the arms of a star, overlaid on wide circle of fine black net veiling. At center crossing point, and at end of each arm is affixed an off-white crocheted/lace flowerhead of 5 petals. No labels.

Description: Day dress of light red-brown silk, walking length, full length dolman sleeves, bodice with all-over vertical pleats or tucks, center front opening with button placket and five round metal buttons with facets, band collar with small tie of self, yoke from empire to natural waist, wide circle skirt, pockets at side seams, metal zipper at left side, unlined. Label at center inside neckline: Claire McCardell Clothes by Townley, Fabric by Stonecutter.

Description: Hat of sherry black straw (artificial?). Crown is flat-topped and cylindrical. The brim is turned up against the sides of the crown, and has a textured black vinyl bow applied at front.
