Picture Hat

Description: Picture hat of light pink silk taffeta and feathers. The domed crown is totally covered by sprays of off-white ostrich feathers and pale pink veiling. At one side is a metal buckle with rhinestones. The wide brim is wired at outer edge and covered with the same silk. The whole is swathed in veiling which also hangs down to secure below face of wearer. Crown of hat is lined in off-white silk, the brim is lined with the same pink silk.

Description: List of paupers at the Travis County Poor Farm from 1890-1900. Ledger includes inventory of property belonging to the Travis County Poor Farm; list of paupers; list of hands hired; list of county convicts sent to the Poor Farm to work out fines and costs; supplies purchased; sales made of produce of the Poor Farm; and, total expenditures and receipts. Pauper information includes name, date when first entered the Poor Farm, age, sex, nativity, color, date of discharge and reason for discharge.

Hans Nickolas Hansen

Description: Bust portrait postcard of a man identified as Hans Nickolas (Nicole) Hansen. He is in front of a light-colored backdrop wearing a bow tie and suit jacket over a light-colored shirt. Because of a probable mistake in the way the postcard was developed, there is a large black mass that covers the bottom part of the image. On the back, the postcard has been addressed to "Mrs. Gertrude Hansen" at "D & R, El Campo, Texas 77437 63-4330 C."

[Tax Documents from 1898, 1899, and 1900]

Description: Four tax documents from Kerr County, two of which are dated January 31, 1899 and the other two are dated January 31, 1900. Two of the documents were sent to George L. Leigh and two were sent to Edward B. Leigh; each document states the amount of taxes and the value for property that was assessed. The fifth document was sent to George L. Leigh and says the taxes taken amounted to $14.25.
